anyone had any luck with this? I found a great price online for a set of 35s but of course I'm gonna get nailed on the freight. I'm hoping to find a local retailer to match (or at least get close) to the price. I called NTB and they declined and Kauffman said they will get back with me.

So my question is this, has anyone had a good experience with a local shop that will match the price of an online store? If so, who?

16's or 15's...I just found some 315's that seem to be a good price.

35x12.5x15. I used to find these all the time when I was shopping for 33s but now that I want 35s the good used ones are hard to find.

If I'm gonna drops $900 for a set if tires they da** well better be brad new and installed.

got mine at big 10 tires, they were very quick to price match, only frustration is they cannot balance well (problem with my factory rims and a TSB) as they need a part for the balancing machine and they will not buy it.

kauffman tire is where I picked up mine and they price matched off of treadepot.com. I hit the jackpot with mine though cause the guy didnt charge me shipping cause they carried the same brand tire. I would recommend them to anyone cause they were very nice and easy to work with.

Just buy Lingo's 36's.

I could do 36's, more info please

Which Big10 and Kaufmann. I'm looking at BFG Km2 and Kaufmann does carry them.

Knauffman on Barrett Prkwy price matched Costco (& actually beat by a few bucks) when we put new BFGs on the '95. This was probably not as good of a deal to match as your on-line, but they did it and it was my understanding that it was company policy (i.e.. any location should do it).

Additionally; Kauffman will repair flats for free (regardless where the tire was purchased) so I was open to throwing some business their way over Costco for a slight savings.

Side note/question: Are your wheels wide enough for the tire you want mounted per the manufacturer's specs? It is my understanding that some shops will not mount 'incorrectly sized' tires due to liability (safety & warranty). I have not encountered that since I am wimpy and run skinny tires, but food for thought.

I deal with Kauffman on S.Cobb near the East-West Connector and they've been pretty good to me. I'm in the market for some new tires too and we have been discussing options. They won't mount the 35's I want on the 7.5" wide wheels, so exploring other options.

I got my SS LTB's from 4WP and what I love about them is the no-questions warranty they offer. I've had 3 LTB's straight-up replaced for less than $20 each incident. So with tires as big as you are talking and the possible abuse they will be subjected to, I'd consider 4WP as an option.

4 wheel parts will match prices. I got my 38" SXs from them and they didnt ask any questions when I asked if they would price match.

On the topic of mounting tires-

I've had good luck with the Sears at Cumberland Mall. They are open late and usually seem to get a kick out of pulling 38's off 15" rims etc etc.

I've talked them down to $10 a rim to swap tires no balancing (I run airsoft pellets), and haven't been able to find anyone cheaper.

What I really need is for ACC to hurry up and get a tire machine, right Mike? :D

I talked to 4WP and they would not match the online price I found. They said would only match a "Retail" price not an online price and then used the freight as a built-in cost for the "actual" online price per tire. I can understand their position and they did give me a price break but was nowhere close to what I found, w/o the freight of course.

Frankly if it were $10-15 per tire difference I wouldn't really care but the deal I found was fantastic and amounts to at least a couple hundred dollar difference.

That is interesting to me. I bought my TSLs from the Marietta store. I had a different experience though. I used a 10% off coupon from 4 wheel parts head qtrs in conjunction with the tires being on sale and the manager had a fit. He called head qtrs and tried to convince them that he did not need to honor the coupon, but he got over-ruled because it clearly stated valid for mail order or store purchases.

I had AWFUL service from that location. But, it was about five years ago. :meh:

I am about to do a musical chairs session with wheels and tires, so I'm intrigued by the deal Sears gave you on mounting tires to wheels and will give them a try.

  • Taking my LTBs off my beat up steelies. (Sears?)
  • Trading my beat up steelies and cash for set of used 80-series alloys. He needs some kind of wheels to keep his parts wagon rolling, so he gets my old beat up steelies.
  • Then taking in my other set of steelies with Wranglers on them to ____ tire shop for trade in on new tires. (Kauffman or 4WP)
  • Then mounting new tires (still deciding which kind) to new-to-me alloys.
  • Also mounting old LTB's to the better set of steelies. (Sears, if Kauffman or 4WP doesn't cut me a deal)

Rick, You may also want to check your mail on facebook. I sent you a note with another mounting/dismounting option for your consideration.

We do have a Goodyear Tire Store in Alpharetta that gives the GA Cruisers a discount. Not sure how it will play out compared to online prices but certainly worth a phone call. As a reference point, lasy May I bought 5 315/75/16 Maxxis Bighorns for $1050 (Tax, mount, balance, etc). They have access to everything (I know because I asked for quotes for swampers, toyo's BFGs, Nittos, Hankooks, etc)
