Hello, What are the thoughts about a 2011 LX for $38k?
  • 72,000 miles
  • 2 owner clean carfax, 2nd owner bought it as certified
  • Mall cruiser
  • The only option I see is the Luxury Package, cooler in 2nd row, etc

I'd love to see that second row cooler....

- Where is it located? Pictures of undercarriage would be good to identify anything other than surface rust...
- Clean in and out? Stains, dents, tears... etc..
- What has the maintenance history looked like, serviced at Lexus every 5k or did it get its free 2 oil changes/services and never seen again?

If it is clean that price seems good.

Yeah, I messed that one up! They were referring to the center console up front. Oops.
Car was TX and NE, pics look good regarding interior, no undercarriage photos avail yet.
First owner to 30K w/ no records on CF
Second owner to 70K meticulous at the dealership every 5K

Also color is Maroon over tan, I have not seen that one very often.

The kicker for me is a 2 hour flight to investigate more...

Maroon and Tan looks great. I think you could rest assured that the second owner probably took care of things if he/she took it religiously to Lexus every 5k. So, I wouldn't worry too much about that. I'm not sure what CF is, but you can always create an account on drivers.lexus.com and put in the VIN to get all of the records.

You can always request a few hi-res photos from whoever you're dealing to aid in your decision. Also, you could throw a request out to the folks in the forum for an assist. If someone is nearby I'm sure they'll help out with an look and honest assessment.

There has been a wave of folks requesting value assessments lately. Many have mentioned car buying sites to see if they're in the ballpark. I'd recommend you also do the same. If the deal is too good for that year/mileage then you should take a closer look.

Best of luck!

While maroon looks nice, it's generally not a very desirable color and hurts resale value. Silver and white are typically the best for resale, so if you think you might want to sell it relatively quickly I'd pass on maroon.

But if you want to keep it, jump on it, because I think the maroon/tan combo is gorgeous.

Pretty good deal assuming if the truck in good shape. 2011 with 72k in Houston will fetch $40k++, I picked up a black 2011 LX with 78k one owner truck for $36k 3 weeks ago in Houston.

Sounds like a good deal to me. That same car would be well over $40k here in my area.
