Just some opinions please. Truck has service records, no towing package. 60k mile service done. Has the optional AHC. Looks to be a 8 on scale of 10. Asking 29000. In the ball park or little high? Ugly Maroon color. Any help appreciated. THanks to everyone

Depends on where you live, but I would say slightly high maybe, but the purchase price is only part of the financial picture. I bought a '06 LX last year for that kind of money. Got any pics?

I paid half as much for my 02 LX470 w/75k miles blk/tan (I wasn't able to find blk/grey).

I believe most wheelers prefer not to have the AHC option as it is something that breaks.

Do you live in a NADA or Kelly Blue Book state?

Maroon is a good color. If this is a rust free LC and they will do a new timing belt and water pump drive belts and if the tires are good I would pay that amount. Toyota recommends 7 years and or 90 k miles on the belt and if they are already in there you might as well change the water pump. You will also want to confirm the wheel bearing have been repacked for that asking price. Except for fluid changes you will be good to go for another 90k. The AHC is not a negative if it's been maintained and you continue to maintain it. I would do the tow package yourself based on what you want to tow.

Where do I find the 7 year or 90k miles timing belt service quote. Is it in the service manual? Truck is at a toyota dealership. They claim all service up to date. I want to be able to quote them on the 7 year timing belt recommendation.

It's in the owners manual. You need to compare the service records with the Toyota recommended service in the owners manual. A lot of dealers claim a vehicles service is up to date. Well what they do is modify the Toyota recommended service to their own based on their location. Example- in Las Vegas the Lexus dealership does not ever recommend a front wheel bearing repack. Which is BS. Remember it is buyer beware!! If they claim you don't need the timing belt done until you get to 90k miles, fine have them provide you a free warranty to cover your engine to 100k miles :)

What does typical timing belt etc cost now?

It's a little high but not horrible. I'd definitely move on it at 26k (west coast). Timing belt is 1,100 at a dealer, 400-600 DIY.

BTW, Garnet Black Pearl is a rare and desirable color (IMO).

I have a 2006 (no AHC) in that color - Black Garnet Pearl - and love it. Initially, I wanted black or silver... until I saw the garnet.

I bought mine 2.5 years ago when it had 39,000 miles on it, for $32,500. At the time, it was a STEAL. the next closest deal to that was a 2007 with 55,000 miles for $39,750. From what I've seen around Atlanta, my truck - now with 76,000 miles, would go for $27,000-28,500. So, $29,000 is in range. Yeah, start at $26, and see what happens.

And don't knock that "ugly color". When the sun hits it...

Timing belt/water pump and etc. $800-1100. Wheel bearing repack if not already done $400-500. Tires around $1000. So this cost to you after purchase could run you around $2500. Dealer cost around 1/2. That's why it is good to bargain for this stuff before purchase saves you money saves the dealer money.

That's a beautiful 100 series. I agree offer $26k or tell them you will pay them $29k if they do the timing belt water pump wheel bearing repack and new tires. If the tires are good offer $28k plus the other work being done. Good luck let us know how it goes.

They are at $28,900 firm. Claim factory spec at 9 years or 90k for timing belt. Dont know about wheel repack. When is that supposed to be done. Looks pretty clean. It is about 4 hours away. Do I jump or keep looking? I could wait another 6 months and be in the same position or buy now or save for another year and get into a 2008 LC. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am slow, what do you mean

End of month, end of year. Motivated dealers. Mid month is not the right time to buy.

Hello,
That is killer that it does not already have a tow package as it generally means less wear and tear and does generally say something about the way it was treated. My LX did not have it as well which I loved. I would be pretty surprised if they would not throw in the T-Belt. Come to that, I would ask them to throw in the entire 90K (due to years. not mileage)

You should have a pretty good bargaining position as spending 30k on an almost 8 year truck certainly narrows down the applicant pool. And raises APR, etc as I believe a car older than 6 years is harder for some folks to finance. If the cutoff is 7, OregonLC's advice is especially salient.
Cheers,
Jack

The LC sold last night. They would not come off the $29000 and would not throw in the timing belt service. Was probably worth it to me if the truck was from a no salt area. Looked like some surface rust but not anything major. I hate any rust. Thanks for the help. The search continues. What do you guys think.
