So long and safe travels! Hope to see you at an event in the future!

Visited the folks after a bike ride today and installed New hood struts... recharged the AC system and changed the Cabin air filter.... then Mom made tuna fish sandwiches for lunch.... it was a good day.

Did the first trail at Cruisers on the Rockies just fine but noticed a squeaking noise. Noise got worse on the second day. Decided to jack up the front and shake the wheels before going on trail #3, and it turned out that both front wheel bearings were loose. Grease was bad, and whoever did the job used RTV instead of the OEM gasket.

I was worried about making the 2200 mile drive home, but the Land Cruiser community came through and showed me how to repack the bearings. Started Thursday evening and by 1AM on Friday there was no play on either side.

Cruiser Outfitters Koyo wheel bearing kit ordered and shipped.

At around the same time, I noticed my starter motor going bad. Sometimes it would take a few turns in succession to start. Worried that it would die altogether on the trip back, I started the truck once a day and thankfully that was enough to get me home. Gonna have to do some research to see whether I can replace it myself or if it’s a problem I’ll have to throw (more) money at.

@Pulgasari Trail or camp repairs will get everyone eventually. It's good that most folks in our world are happy to help with parts or guidance. Hasn't hit me yet, that's why I try to nice at events!

Sounds like you had a proper adventure Liam! Congratulations! I can’t imagine the starter is super hard, it’s a Toyota, but I don’t know about 100s.

Haha, Toyota put the starter in the middle of the V on the UZ engines… so the intake manifold and some other stuff has to come off and then there are some bolts on the starter that are apparently a pain to remove. 5 hour book time so that means it will probably take me a whole weekend.

Might see if I can stop by my grandparents in a few weeks and use their 2 car garage or check if there’s another tech day coming up.

No personal experience, but I hear that the 100 does have a tough starter location to deal with. I had a similar experience at Wolf Den this past New Years Day....drove almost to the trail, got gas, and nothing when you turned the key. Fortunately a couple of hammer bumps and it worked again...but I basically left it running for the rest of the day!

Good job getting yourself back safely with the front end work!

@Pulgasari there is a tech day coming up at OTRAM. I have never changed a UZ starter (yet). It will be close to finish at a tech day. But I imagine it’s possible.
