hey everyone, so trying to get back to the land cruiser.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I am thinking it would be best to remove and replace the weather seals versus masking and painting around them, i could barely get a fingernail under them and they are pretty dried up with the florida sun.

i am trying to put together a grocery list to get the parts before i go to the shop.

Weather Seals that need to be replaced : Sunroof, front windshield, rear windshield.
ill also remove the antennae mast.

for the door handles, he said he will dismantle them and paint them individually since the rubber around the door handles are part of the assembly.

now comes the fender flares. I am thinking of removing them and telling him to fill the holes. Since a body shop is doing it, should i ask for them to weld the holes so its not bondo cracking while exploring?

Can you buy the sunroof seal? I thought you had to buy the glass along with it.

Always best to take all the trim pieces off prior to painting, if possible. If not make sure the body shop tapes off as if the rubber is painted it will quickly crack/deteriorate. Since you are removing trim, badges, lights, grill, bumper etc..it is a good time to upgrade any of the items based on preference. As for removing fender flares, if you are getting the entire truck painted that would be a perfect time to remove the flares, weld the holes and paint. I just did a repaint on a 92' for my daughter and very happy with the look de-flared.

First off @Shickalee , kudos to the very nice "off the beaten path" look on your daughters 80.

Second @lp2k , agree to above, take off all you can. I do believe rear door seals are NLA which stinks, get what you can now. There was just a post on @mervo, s thread about filling those holes, looks like a good call. I am from the old "weld the hole school" from my body shop days BUT I am trying to ebrace the new idea of avoiding welding. I just invested in a 3m panel bond gun and my first tube of the panel bond glue to do cab corners on my super duty. I seriously suspect this route may be excellent for filling those holes but I've yet to see it done. The material is basically a slightly flexible, waterproof 2 part epoxy. The caveat is the initial investment in the gun. The gun, glue, and nozzle xan be had on ebay for <$100.
