Hi all,
Below is a reminder picture of my GX looks like after hitting the trails where I live. Don’t worry, all good, 99% of the scratches clean up with some elbow grease, patience and low-impact scratch remover.
Having said that, I have arthritic hands (lucky me) so elbow grease/scratch remover sucks and my options really are live with scratches, seek alternative (magnetic armor) or try PPF.
I reached out to the company that makes magnetic armor for 4R’s. They have not had enough interest to make GX armor.
So, I’ve decided to get a partial PPF. Basically I had the fenders/doors and A/B/C/D Pillars and the lower ‘cheek’ of the front and rear bumper facia PPF’d with LLumar Platinum PPF in gloss. My end game here is I don’t actually care if I scratch the PPF. What I’m hoping is the PPF will not puncture/tear off, will last 5 - 7 years of real world use and make cleaning up the truck from normal use/trail use easier.
In talking to the PPF shop and my research horizontal surfaces (roof/hood) don’t last as long due to the elements/UV. So I chose to skip those surfaces and save the $$$ to have ceramic coat applied to the vehicle and over the PPF. Just got it back today. It’s raining so can’t really see much, but the two pictures with rain are the front/rear where the tailgate and front facia have no PPF and the corner has PPF. Basically, you can’t see it in the rain. Which is what I would expect.
$2,300. Ask me in 2027+ if it was worth it.
