What do you all think of the PowerBrake X-line Stage 1 kit (link below)? Seems like a very useful safety upgrade for a vehicle with a lot of additional weight and/or boost, particularly because the stock brakes seem to be one of the weaker parts of the factory models, but I don’t see many posts on this forum about brake upgrades.

Or you could get these:

Similar to tires, you will find lots of different opinions on brakes here. Some are fine with OEM and maybe a pad upgrade while others swear by various aftermarket solutions.

Personally I am a DBA convert. Did full upgrade and upsized front rotors on my 2014 to the larger 2016+. I find that the Australian-made or used products for Land Cruiser are very robust and these are no different. Tons of stopping power and will last a long time before needing replacement. Squeaky in the cold and at low speeds but I don’t care.

Thank you for this. Very helpful. Am I understanding right that there are differences in OEM brakes between pre and post 2016 models? Is that true for both LC and LX?

Amen!

I’ve been a DBA fanboy over 10 years now, best bang for the buck mod IMHO

Had them on my last 4 cruisers (one of which raced in Baja), and a Tundra and never had a single issue and never had to replace one
