The rubber lined track came off the bottom of my rear window on my hj-61 and I can't get it back on. Does anyone know of a trick to slide the window back into this rubber lined metal track? I've tried putting the rubber on the window and then pushing the metal track on and putting the rubber in the track and pushing it on...no luck either way?
Any help would be greatly apprieciated.

well maybe not the same issue .. but I down all my window ( in my case electric ) and with the windown down refit the rubber on the frame .. and up again the winfdown .. all without teh door panel ( you must need to manipulate the rubber from the begining )

Two tricks.

One is to try and open the track a little (just a little otherwise the window won't grip in it.

However what normally works for me is to lubricate the inside of the rubber with washing up liquid and water, insert the rubber the insert the window. Problem is the rubber gets dry over the years and dry rubber is very sticky and the glass just grips it. Once installed fit the window in the vehicle (you will really need to take it out to fit it back on the track if you haven't done already). Then with the window closed, leave ot closed for 24 hours to allow the water and washing up liquid to evaporate otherwise it may well slip out again.

You may also need carefull use of a wooden mallet on the track to hammer it onto the window - carefull though, you don't want to break the window.

Thanks for the replies. I ended up tossing the rubber as it was old and not very rubbery anymore, I layed a thick bead of winshield urathane in the metal track and squashed the window in, seems to have done the trick.
