Hi guys ..

Just wondering if anyone here have plans to change/swap/upgrade your Power Steering pump/Box fo rother more capable . ?

always in my case after a heavy duty mud trip, front lockers chains .. I'm back with No power steering .. I have a PS radiator and also already rebuild kit for my PS pump ..

I thought my solution option was rock ram cilinder . ?

Adapt a chevy PS pump ... ? or SG box . ? ( maybe both )

talk to Peter about his ram steering, is suppose to be the s***z for big tires and locked...

Thanks for the advice Wayne !

I don't have big tires on my truck, but I noticed right away when I bought my toyota the the power steering was far better then the ford and chev's i've owned, seem to me like it is built to last and feels nice too no whining.

I guess the entire truck is better, just thinking out loud.

Hi All:

"Tapage," I have a one word answer for your power steering pump problem: Saginaw!

Replace the Toyota pump with a GM Saginaw pump and it will have plenty of power to turn those big tires. I have one on my FJ40, and it works great.

Find an auto wrecking yard with Chevy cars or trucks and you find one (or 10!)

Good luck!

Alan

I have driven the saginaw, it plain rocks with 37s, no need for hydro assist, mind you it was not locked in the front.

Have drilled and tapped a box for hydro assist but not driven the vehicle, we will see how it works.

Overall I think the toy parts and hydro assist would work out be be less work or the same and maintain the toyota parts, less mixing and maching and better in IMO.

thanks Alan .. I thought you gonna write it .. the only issue in my aplication is the postion for the Chevy PS pump .. in y 2H is down but I must need to think in this option ..

Hi All:

"Tapage," where does the factory power sterring pump mount? Got any photos?

On a "F" or "2F" engine one custom approach to mounting the Saginaw PS pump is to use two of the front head bolts, on the left-side of the engine block. Maybe the "2H" has similar head bolts??

Regards,

Alan
