Hey guys still a new owner here have had my 80 for about a month now. Trying to get all the kinks worked out. It had been sitting in an older guys garage for about 15 months when I bought it. My most recent quirky thing is that after I drive it for a while the power steering begins to make a noise not any harder to turn (maybe a little) just makes a little noise. Is it that my fluid needs to be changed or is my ps pump going out.

1997 FJ80 160k on it all stock at the moment. No rips in seats clean. Sorry for the kid in the picture he was excited about it

It never hurts to change the PS fluid. It's one of the most neglected fluids on most vehicles. However once it starts making noise it's probably too late.

It depends on the noise it is making. If it is groaning a little, you might be able to buy a rebuild kit and take care of all issues. They run <$100 if you buy from Beno or CruiserDan at American Toyota. The pump will run almost $300 for a new one. I am waiting on my kit to arrive sometime soon. This will be my little Christmas project. I still need to locate a thread on taking the pump apart. I haven't searched yet, but will soon.

got enough fluid in it? mine only groans at start when cold till warmed up
