My power steering pump went out on my 71 FJ40. In looking for a replacement part online, all I am seeing listed as available is a replacement for 1979-84. It looks like it is very similar in shape, at least in the pictures online...

Does anyone have, or know where i can get a power steering pump for a 71?

Will the replacement for 79-84 fit? or be made to fit?

My guess would be the mini pump also as the 71 model didn't come stock with PS

A picture would greatly help us in identifying your pump. The reason your search only finds pumps for 79 and up is because that was the first year for factory power steering.

My guess would be that you have a Saginaw pump. In which case you could find at just about any auto parts store.

you really need tp ost a pic. it could be a toyota pump from a later cruiser or pickup. it also could be a sag style pump, but there are two different styles of those as well, depending on the type of pulley they utilize; press-on or bolt-on.

so post a pic........

X2 on the pic, then somebody here could identify it.

yup, sag style pump with the press-on pulley. probably the most common ps pump in the USA........

Does anybody know what vehicles the power steering pump was mount in this location from GM?

I need to find these mounts and everything that I find seems to mount lower on the engine and will not clear my steering shaft.

I have a 1971 FJ40 with a SBC and a GM tilt column, thanks in advance for any help locating thses mounts.
