In 2011 @coax had written
  • "You might as well do all 4 lines if they have not been done recently. (see the beginning of this thread for the link provided) I ended up using the napa hi pressure line, and the low pressure feed tube (16mm or 5/8") and carquest tranny line for the two smaller low pressure hoses (10mm or in this case, 3/8). The napa high pressure hose doesn't fit quite as well as the toyota one, and uses a 16mm fitting on one endinstead of the toyota 17mm. (You get what you pay for)"
Can someone confirm that that the OEM Toyota is indeed 17 mm and not 16?

Because I just ordered GATES 365550 and it is:
OE Comparison Rating OE Performance
Length (In) 38.5
End 1 Diameter (mm) 16
End 1 Type Banjo
End 2 Diameter (mm) 16
End 2 Type Male Inverted Flare
Includes Switch Port No
Alternate/OEM Part Number(s): 36555, 391, 4441160430, 72928

I recall 16 mm being correct for the high pressure side and 17 mm being for the low pressure (so Toyota won't let us screw up?).

You canot screw up even after drinking american beer and a night of cow tipping

I don't know the measurements but I just replaced mine with a Gates from rockauto.com with no problem

I've run the Gates pressure hose for a year now, and while it's fine, it seems a bit cheap compared to the original:
-Protective cover is flimsier
-No mounting bracket, must reuse old
-16mm vs 17mm nut on the flared connection

This prompted me to buy the "Rein Automotive" PSH0328. Rockauto has it for $40, but I found it $10 cheaper at CARid.com after shipping. This hose comes with the same bracket and abrasion resistant cover as the OEM part. The assembly says "made in China" on the packaging, but the hose has "Nichirin - Japan" printed on it. Overall it seems higher quality than the Gates/Edelmann part.

Make things easy and cut the hose off near the banjo at the steering box. Most likely the fitting in the box will loosen before the banjo does.

I have seen all of that and ordered the Gates because I could not find any details on "Rein Automotive" I oordered PSH0328 too in the end:)
