I'm looking for an aftermarket power rear sun shade. Kind of surprised it was never an oem option for the lx470. The IS300 even got one. Does anyone have any ideas? I don't see any aftermarket units for sale. You would think they sell them. i bet i could retrofit one from an Audi or something.

I'm about to yank the one out of my piece of s*** Audi a6. Fiberglass it into the rear hatch.

I've never seen seen it retrofitted into a 100, but I'd sure be interested to see it done.

There are a bunch of guys running some kind of curtain/sun screen on all of their windows, but they're more for blacking out light when you're camping in the truck. Nothing automated/powered that I've noticed.

That's what i want it for. I want shades on all the windows for sleeping. I might do vip style curtains on the side. I can't find anything for the back though. Have any links for curtain/shade installs? I guess the back doesn't HAVE to be powered. But it would be cool if it was

I'd start here.

@Mike NXP I do too! It's a solid bit of kit, made in USA, and rather inexpensive to get the full set.

Mine are silver mylar on the outside. I believe they are now offering a gold mylar option. The rear tailgate one I modded and added 2 of the spare suction cups closer to the bottom so that it stays flush against the window. The cargo ones have been hanging for almost 2 months now and haven't fallen or detached.

I was able to get them to do silver on the outside and black on the inside, gives a nice dark feel inside for camping.

I wish they had like an extra inch or so of fabric around the edges to fill in all the little gaps, but all and all the company is great and has good support.

There is also a company out of AU that makes like a more bad ass version of these but wasn't worth the money.

how flexible are they? These look great, however sometimes I would need to 'roll down' the top of these to let some air in from the top of a cracked open window. Would there be any way to fold down the top to let some air in?

They are really flexible. You actually rolled them up for storage. I had my 2nd row windows down part way over Memorial Day with the pup in the car while camping.

I just don't push in the top suction cups and can roll down the window no problem. I can also use this in combination with my screens that slip over the window.

When camping I typically just have the screen installed with the window cracked. When the sun comes out in the morning I can grab the window shade and just slip them in the screens if I need a little more darkness.

What did you use to punch through the screen to create the holes for the extra suction cups? I like this idea, but I'm afraid I'll butcher the job :)

In my experience the rear shade is the best fitting. I am able to just tuck the corners into the plastic trim of the window and no extra suction is needed. I have had mine installed for over a year and it has never moved.

So, if you open the tailgate with the rear shade installed, the bottom part stays in place and doesn't drop down?

Yep, Haven't touched it since the day I installed it.

The seam of the shade has a bit of fabric material ands you can kind of wedge that into the plastic trim to allow it to stay put.

I went with this brand and the ML size. I believe I went through a few options for sizing before settling on ML

They are easy to use, fold up small, and haven't worn out on me yet. You can keep them on while driving as well, kind of cool.

It's not the sleekest looking setup but if you pull them nice and tight it looks decent.

thanks team. I thought there used to be some vehicle specific ones I'd been looking for.
Oh, gotcha. I feel like I may have seen something more robust that kind of takes the place of the window but the slip over style is most convenient.

Here they are installed
