power loss while driving

When a cat clogs it will not let exhaust through, the backed up exhaust then puts to much back pressure on the engine, the engine then looses power.
The O2's will not pick this up. Shut the engine off, the exhaust dissaptes, things run fine once again.
Bring a old towel with you, next time this happens pull over, leave the engine running, stuff towel into the tailpipe, get on throttle, is there a change in how the engine runs?
No change, clogged cat, change, keep looking.

WELL it's still happening. Still no CEL and it feels like running out of gas. Thinking the fuel pump next. Wondering if it could be the throttle body actuator ? I would think if it was one of the monitored parts it would throw a code or illuminate the CEL. When it does loose power it happens pretty quickly then will run good again then loose power again.

Don't just throw parts at it. Get fuel pressure guage and check pressure. How is fuel filter? Start with diagnostics and the basics. If you don't have the ability or test equipment, you may save money bringing it to shop for a diagnosis. After that you may choose to fix your self or have it done depending on what it is. Throwing parts at it by guessing gets REAL EXPENSIVE.

Codes are only thrown when a part fails completely or is out of spec more than it is in spec over a specific number of drive cycles.
