378k miles is cool but what is amazing is that KBB still says it has a $16,421 retail value. I had to go look it up myself to make sure it was true.

It is interesting that the same truck with 275k miles is retail at $16,421 and at 378k miles it is still valued at $16,421. That means, according to my KBB app on my phone, that the last 100k miles on that truck did not depreciate it $.01!

I bought my truck with 13?,000 miles on it. It is a 2001 and I gave $9500 for it. If the original buyer gave $65,000 for it in 2001, that means the first 13?,000 miles cost them $55,500. According to the logic applied to the 378k mile truck above, my last 100,000 miles will be free! How can you afford not to drive a used LC!!

Good analysis! From reading posts by owners with high mileage 100's, it becomes more and more apparent that you should always buy used with 100k plus miles. Then just drive them for the next 400k+ miles doing the normal maintance. I would love to see a study on what vehicles are the most reliable and robust on the road today. I've read that the 100 series was designed for 25 years of service. It would be interesting to have more threads talking about how these rigs are designed for the long term. JMHO

No joke swutah, that would be pretty interesting. What's great is they've kept their value so well...even with high miles. Gotta love the 100series, truly an epic vehicle.

I'm starting to think I got ripped off buying a low mileage 100. I guess I will have to drive it to 1,000,000 miles!

Kbb has a box that says "mileage *optional"

I'm not sure it calculates value based on milage anymore.

I haven't seen the 'optional' box. I am using the KBB app on my iPhone. If I put in a 2002 Lexus LX470 with 378,000 on it in my zip code, it says it is worth $16441. If I say it has 200,000 miles on the same exact vehicle, it says it is worth $16596. If I say it only has 100,000 miles, it gives me a value of $23721. I am quite sure that KBB is still using mileage in determining value.

WoW!! Compared to others, my car has just rolled off the lot then :cheers::steer:

Forgot to add that this is a 2003 stock LC, and I'm the 2nd owner! :D

This thread isn't for low mileage... You haven't even broken-in the truck yet! :p

I took his comment as meaning, engine, transmission, etc.

No engine and trans are fine. I totalled my last 100 and it had too much stuff to hand over to Geico so I swapped almost everything from my old 100 (interior, tires, wheels, sliders, bumpers, seats, steering wheel, speakers, window motors, door panels, batteries, roof rack, starter, T-hoses, filters, , 07 front end, all lift struts, suspension,). I've never bought a new vehicle and immediately threw away and cut pieces off of it before.

But it's first long off road trip revealed all sorts of squeaky and worn out parts underneath. So I've been replacing all the ball joints, controls arms, tie rods, bushings, etc lately. About to replace the differentials, gears, and the rest of the fluids. Then steering rack, belts, water pump, radiator, etc.

Thank you. Shes a big baby That hangs out with me 23hrs a day.

Time to make that build thread for the old truck and the new one.

Yeah I kinda adore Germans, and yours looks adorable :) I'm also very interested in the blueberry bumper, post a frontal pic of the truck in the pics thread? (with the pup :D )

Sorry for the minor hijack haha

My problem is i talk to much and my wife now knows how long the 100 will last if you take care of it. The wife's making me keep this one for another 6 years which should get me to 200k miles. So I have an appt. next Tuesday at Slee Off road to have a OME suspension installed and plugs and fluids along with the T's replaced. I decided to drive 12 hours from Las Vegas to Golden Co. To have my baby taken care of by the best. Also support a Mud vendor/member.

At my age this could end up being my last vehicle.

She came in last night! 259.6k miles. I think that puts me in second place. Would have been more but only 8k in the last three years. Car fax shows it averaged 26,800 miles per year for the first 8 years ( I saw one year it had 40k).

Btw, dealer checked compression on all cylinders before purchased. New spec is 192. Operating in range is 145. Six of eight were 190 and two were 185. Not sure how calibrated their equipment is, but that is amazing. Oh and all armored up.

The delivery driver said he thought the PO was actually about to cry when he picked it up.
