Well I finished my first project for the winter. I cleaned my garage out. For those of you who don't know me this was a major undertaking. I spent 4 days cleaning it and can honestly say I could put a vehicle in there.

The biggest obstacle was moving the 2f that was sitting in the middle of the garage over to one side without the use of a hoist.

Suddleny thinking of blue suit and a big red S on your chest, hope your back is better after the leaping tall buildings into the hot tub found you landing on Kyrptonite. LOL LMAO Doc:bounce2:

Well i finished up two off my list. Here are pics to prove it.

Sweet! Sliders really helped my :princess: get in and out of my Pig. She couldn't do it without sliders.

new project

I've been driving my 62 all week and a few issues have popped up. I know its leaking coolant and I believe its coming from the thermostat, so I ordered a new OEM radiator cap, thermostat, and upper and lower gasket along with a few other things. Everything gets here Tuesday, so I’ll have a project for next weekend.

Now the odd issue. It was in the teens this morning and I went to warm the cruiser up and when I went back outside, the brake light, battery light and AT oil temp light was on. I thought it was odd, no way the trans oil was hot after only sitting for a few minutes and it being cold outside. The battery gauge was way below where it normally is, below the middle line. I started driving to work and when I was leaving the subdivision all the lights turned off and it was back to normal and after another half mile or so, the battery gauge when back up to where it normally is. I'm thinking the ALT could be going bad or I need new belts. The battery is new. Any ideas?

i would have the alternator tested. But, the fact that it was back to normal meant that it charged the battery.. so perhaps the battery was hurting from the cold and low on cranking amps. So... maybe go to autozone and have the battery tested first since it's easy. If it tests ok, remove the alternator and have it tested.

x2 on what Concrete said. Check the easy stuff first. Have somewhere like Advance or AutoZone check the battery (free), then the Alternator (free). Replace as needed.

How old is your current battery? What type is it? Do you have a bunch of accessories hooked up to it? Has it been fully or close to discharged any?

The cold puts a hurting on batteries.

I pm'd you back.

I'll get it checked out this weekend. The battery is a red top and is only 6-7 months old. At the time i got the battery, they check the alt and said it checked out fine. Only thing connected is the aftermarket radio. Hopefully it was just the cold or a lose connection. Thanks for the help!

Matt,
Got your PM. Thanks! i'll check it out after work.

Never hurts to clean your battery terminals, make sure your battery is connected solidly to your cables, check your ground. Also wouldn't hurt to make sure you don't have a trickle drain on your battery. I have one on my Pig that will drain my Yellow Top Optima over the course of a few days.

I am having the same kind of issue with my red top. I am good to start up unless the cruiser sits for anything longer than 5 days. I am the absolute opposite of being close to a mechanic. Any easy way to check for a trickle drain?

From what I know you need a volt meter and you have to check everything. I think it has something to do with my CB or radio. I have to get my motor installed before I worry too much about a trickle drain! :grinpimp:

shhh, no one tell anyone :)

120 wall dom I believe, 2" for most.

Saw the 'Cado in person last Thursday. The tube work into the A-pillar is sweet and tight. Brian did a fine job of inserting the tube across the top of the windshield into the inside of the A-pillar, welding it to all 4 layers of sheet metal in there. Then drilled 2" hole into that and inserted the driver's sidebar into that before welding it. That's a lot better than I had pictured in my mind. I thought they were going to have to run a vertical to the floor along the A-pillar, but this looks pretty solid. Plenty of headroom for Dan too, 'cause they used Mike as the height gauge.

So I've made up my list of things to do before March and here's what I've come up with:
1) Replace steering inner rods
2) Upgrade UCA's
3) Fab up something to make a "basket for my roof rack. I'm thinking of taking some hi-tensile sheet of alum (3/16" or so) and making a tray for the back half of the rack. The OEM crossbars have served their purpose up until now and I want to be able to use more space up there. Probably rearrange the air tanks so they are more stern than aft, while I'm at it.
