It's tough, I know.

Sorry Aids10, truly am.

We just recently lost our 3 year old boxer to cancer. Lost 4 boxers since October of last year. Down to one 12 year old boxer girl.

This was Leiben with my daughter below. We adopted him from the local humane society in December of last year and then he developed cancer of the lymph nodes early 2013. Went through treatments but it came back too aggressive.

But, we had a ton of fun in that short time. He was introduced to things he hadn't experienced before and he loved every minute of it. The 80 took us many places.

Lost him last month.

Thanks guys, your kind words mean a lot! (i'm still a f'ing mess)

Neglect your 9to5, take the kids & k9s and hit the trails...

kybishop, my deepest condolences!

You have my greatest respect having rescued and supported a sick pup.

Our Santa had lymphoma too and he fought it for a year. Chemo gave him an extra 5 months.

F* cancer; I'll never feed another pup dry dog food, only fresh whole food in future (chicken/rice/broccoli).

Regards,

Aidan

My dog died of cancer too. Heres a pic from better times. Just came back from boating and the dogs watched us load up. Not a clear pic, but you get the idea.

Ajax Co-piloting

Old photos and he is no longer with us but that really was his truck. He was the boss.

I want to get a dog just so he can go in my LC!!

I have found the 80 to be the best dog friendly vehicle I have had. They love to ride in the back especially with the sliding windows. Those are great for dogs that love to ride full on in the wind.

Violet loves those back windows.

This is Sadie. I bought her as a puppy when I turned 17. We were immediately best friends. After high school I lived abroad for two years, came back and spent 4 years in the Corps. Now that I'm out and living in a house with a yard we are finally re united. This is a pic of our road trip from SLC Utah to San Antonio.

Edit. I've been waiting a long time to post a pic in this thread!! :)

Great photo. Mine didn't like the back he would start climbing over the seats. Eventually we stopped putting him back there.

This is my bud and skirt chaser, Goliath.

These pics are from a few days after I got the thing. His first ride.

Queen of the Wayback

Daisy is 3 yrs old, and she is Black Lab #3. Piper (#1) lived in the 4runner, Rose (#2) occupied both the 4runner and the 80. These pics are from today on the ranch. Daisy goes everywhere with us. That's her "seat" in pic 2.

i've had a couple of dogs die early from cancer. does anyone else think it might be the dog food?

Breeding is probably the biggest factor. Especially over breeding and breeding close relatives. Food very well could have something to do with it along with whatever water you're using. Maybe you live in the country where they used a lot of pesticides and that leeched into your well or even what they are do with hydro fracking. My dog passed away from cancer at 14-and-half. He ate a lot of table food, ice cream and cookies and only drank NYC tap water and ate Eukanuba dry food for his entire life.

Definitely; dogs (carnivores) can't process grains.

For the last ~4 years I was buying the grain-free salmon canidae-

But even the best dry food is processed crap.

For the last year (after cancer diag.), I was baking chicken thighs once week, and doing rice and broccoli in the rice cooker every few days. No comparison, and it works out the same/cheaper than the $80 bag of the best dry S*&^; no brainer!

The F*ing Vets push that Science Diet which is the worst you can buy because they get it for nothing (huge profit).

My Vet confirmed they know nothing about nutrition, in college they take and one hour class on it and its conducted by Iams!!!

I thought holistic vets were crap, but after the first visit and getting some nutritional guides I now know better. She noted our guy had a really white tongue (sounded like crap at the time) but I was amazed when his tongues color returned once he was eating whole food/homemade meals.

Please give it some consideration and research!
