I hate to start a thread about it but I can't seem to find info via search on here or google.

I have what'd I'd call a Class 2 leak on the underside of my engine. I'd imagine the pan and or main seals leak, but I'm not ready to tackle them yet. There is a channel that goes under the pan in the front- I haven't looked hard enough but I think it's a sending unit (I've already replaced the oil pressure sending unit seal on the driver's side of the block).

Can someone tell me what this is, if the seal/gasket is replaceable, and what the Toyota part number is? I'm slowly stopping most of the leaks, and this one appears to be low-hanging fruit, but it's been a challenge finding what it's called and the associated part numbers.

The best thing to do, is first clean your engine at the dollar car wash, that way you'll be able to pin point where your leak is coming from. The reason i say this, with the engine running, and air blowing from your fan, you may in fact have a valve cover leak, but without cleaning your engine, your leak may look like it's coming from the pan.

I can tell by looking at the front of the block that it's not from the valve covers- I've replaced the distributor seal and the oil pump and crankshaft seal, but I'm still having leakage from up front. Based on how dry and brittle every seal I've replaced has been, I'm probably going to replace this one since it seems easy and probably cheap. I'll eventually do the pan/front main if this doesn't make a significant difference.

Just as an FYI your pan does not have a gasket, it uses what is known as a FIPG. You can buy a tube of it from your Toyota dealership.

The oil pan re-seal is a pita but I think it's the problem staring you down. At 270k I replaced the leaking oil pump seal and front crank seal and re-sealed my oil pan-problem solve. Neither crank seal was leaking.
