If there is enough interest, I am willing to organize a club trip for a Nationals game.
I am suggesting Saturday, May 9 versus the Atlanta Braves. The weather should not be blistering hot, it is on the weekend allowing many members to attend, the game has a 4:05 start time which is perfect for families, and (for the baseball inclined) it is against a division rival.
Group sales are limited to groups of 13 or more. Discounts do not apply until you reach a group size of 25. I suggest that we get tickets in the outfield. They are easy to get into and out of as they are right near the center field gate. They are close to children's activities as well as the good food and beer on the field level concourse. Ticket prices would be $32 per ticket, or $27 per ticket if we can assemble a group of 25 or more.
There are cheaper options (and much more expensive ones as well) but this seemed like a nice compromise between price and features. That said, if there is a general consensus for cheaper tickets, they can be had.
Parking is another issue. There is no free parking for Nationals games. On top of that, the Nationals have a strict policy against tailgating -- not exactly a friendly policy towards a car club. However, I think that we can find a private lot down there that would allow us to drive our trucks in early and tailgate. The fee would be in the neighborhood of $20 per truck. I would propose that we show up two hours before the game and party next to our trucks.
So, lets gauge some interest. If there is enough, I'll start to move forward on it.
Here is a running tally of interest:
Von Hayek: 2 adults, 2 children
TRFCSUX: 2 adults
TikiCruiser: 1 adult
iptman: 2 adults, 2 children (possibly additional 4)
Total 11
