Anyone do this to their 300 series yet?
This company seems to offer portals on gx and sequoia but not lx600 yet.
Wondering how this would work with the AH.

1 - The whole package is not my cup of tea. Too much IMO and more fitting for a 5th gen 4Runner to run Rubicon.
2 - The above said however, I like the bumpers design. Well integrated.
3 - Interesting comments about the 3rd row. Exactly my thoughts when comparing the OT to a 200HE 2row.
4 - Where are the sliders bolt to? body or frame?

I've said it in another thread - it doesn't make much sense to me to do this on an LX because you're taking away the main reason to own it - comfortable highway cruising - to make something that's going to end up about as capable on a trail as a Honda Talon you can just go buy for about the same price as the portals and just trailer to the trails in the comfort of your LX where it does its best work. They'd make more sense to me on something like a used Tundra or 4Runner because if you're going where you need portals - the body is going to get trashed in pretty short order. If you're just driving fire roads, no need for the portals.

If you need to flex on your neighbor's G wagon, then they might be just the answer.

I aggree. We already have folks take the stock 700h to a pretty good trails. For my use, that's probably the extreme side that I'll take mine. I don't plan take mine to hell's gate. So I'm good.

I have a feeling the owner of this LX has other, more comfortable vehicles to cruise the highway. 😜 I'd love to take this LX through it paces. I just don't want to pay for it.

Even with unlimited budget - the LX still doesn't look like a very good platform for a dedicated trail vehicle for this type of mod to me. It has a lot of strikes against it for this - namely weight and size. After adding portals and tires it'll weigh about the same as a Unimog 406. But it still has a 112" wheel base. It would probably be worse in places like Moab. Probably better on the Rubicon where the angles aren't so extreme. And the range ends up around 150 miles(?) so you can't practically do long range trips without a bunch of extra fuel cans. Towing might put you into double digit range. But if you gotta trailer it - why not hit the trail with something half the weight with double the suspension travel?

It would be fun to go bash around in one. But I don't see a use case for building it even with unlimited budget. There's just so many better options including turn-key stuff.

Yeah but..it's just. So. Cool. :)

There isn't a use case for owning an Lx700h either. There are more fuel efficient (Tesla X, Lincoln Navigator, Prius) comfortable (Cullinan, Phantom) capable (g-wagon 4x4^2, rubicon, Raptor) vehicles out there. The intersection of heritage, go almost anywhere capability, reasonable comfort and quiet, and ultimately the landcruiser panache is why those of us who bought one did so. I'd totally do the portals and 37's if I had more resources and was living in Alaska or the Pacific Northwest and had the playgrounds to ride it in.

The LX is cool. If I didn't have kids - it would be a pretty great midsize SUV swiss army knife. Tows well (fuel range excluded), goes offroad pretty well, fits in the garage, easy to park and live with in the city. Plus really nice highway cruiser. And AHC is about as good as it gets for a do-everything suspension setup. I'm pretty pro-LX, just too small for a family that wants to go do outdoor stuff.

For a 7k lb + portal based off-roader, I think Tundra or Sequoia are just a bit more compelling because you get the cargo volume to go with the weight. And the AHC probably isn't all that important anymore. I'm not sure there's a lot of reason to go for a midsize SUV once you're getting into the 85inch wide, full size weight class vehicle range. It's just small inside without much benefit otherwise. A Bronco Raptor is about the same overall dimensions as an LX on portals, so maybe it's not as bad as I'm imagining.
