I have been a long time lurker and have owned several Toyotas over the years. I have definitely gotten some great info from the minds of Mud.
I acquired this 60 equipped with a SBC, 700R4, 34mm split case earlier this year with a compromised engine from the classifieds here. Upon further inspection I determined that the incorrect head bolts were utilized with the aluminum cylinder heads. A new head gasket set and some ARP head studs and we were back in action. After driving for about 1500 miles the transfer case developed a whirring noise. At this point the transfer case was replaced due to an issue with a spacer that was part of the Advance Adapters kit. Lots of love is needed for this old 60 but my family and I are enjoying the crap out of it. I am trying to get a color code idea of the colors it was painted in the past. If anyone recognizes it or knows a previous owner please let me know. I hope to swap in a nv4500 sooner than later I will probably be asking questions involving the swap.
