Those "bushcampers" are set-up really well for two person travel. If you ever visit Australia or South Africa, there are several companies that rent them out. The rental companies sell them after after 3-4 years.

If only we had a place in the states to do this, would sell my daily driver to cover the cost.....

Here is my Hzj75 pop top. Had it for 8 years, done around 100000km and no intention in selling it.

I'd like to add a 70 series with the front pivot vs. the full pop roof one day, but the 40 series pop-top is also a super cool rig that you see pop up for sale every once in a while in the states (pun intended). I'm guessing more 70 series will start showing up since they're just now hitting their stride in the 25 yr import rule. I came really close to buying the one in the article when it was on ebay, but held out for the 40 series. The guy I bought my 40 series from just replaced it with a 70 series.

Pop tops show up on austousa from time to time. Pricing is usually in the $15k delivered price.

AUStoUSA.com

AUStoUSA.com

s*** thats how much it costs to get the conversion done isnt it? I think my wife would divorce me AND take my truck if i even hint about adding another rig to the fleet

I'v looked at AUStoUSA before, lots of cool trucks on there, though most seem to be older and well used or harder to tell the condition , but the pop tops do show up...

There is one on there now

I don't have a picky of inside but I will post one.
Mine steeps 2 up top and 2 down the bottom. I have been in both roof types, the lift up from the back and the popup like mine and I like my type. Its about $20k to have one done. I did the conversion on it myself. Around $5k

If you buy a truck from Australia, plan on another $10-15k making it whole.

JDM trucks: plan on another $5-7k making it whole.

Folks: 30 year old trucks. 'Nuff said.
Both dollar amounts may be on the conservative side. :)

To set the record straight, similar products have been designed and fabricated in the U.S. for decades.
