No, never mind, the old one isn't going anywhere.
They both have about the same fuel range, but one loads 14 gal. and the other 44 gal.
That is our first modern car to us in 18 years, boy the features have changed a lot, the wife's 2002 Sequoia is sitting at 321,000 miles (with cassette player) and still going strong.

Just found this thread. Awesome to see. You bought this from us in Gig Harbor. Such a classic truck. Does it still have the propane powered tall heater? And that water system? Looks great, glad to see it's still jamming along. This was the second pop top Troopy we imported. Here's a pic of the other.

Hi, no, it never had a propane heater, and I have been slowly working on the interior, so the water system is gone, for now, you need to get water from the water tank outside.

I have been, very slowly (never done cabinet work before) making a bit of progress in setting up the interior of the Troopy. Attached are a couple of photos, still need to finish up the cabinets, stain/paint and all water/propane connections (Now will need to wait till next summer).

I know this is a Toyota Forum, but another project I have been working with my son over the last couple of years, is his AWD Astro van, that he purchased as a cargo van and we have been converting it to a camper van.
Basically what it looked like when he bought it.
After some paint, roof rack, 2" lift and bigger tires
We customized a brush guard for a Chevy pick up to fit the van

We then moved the spare to the back of the van
And then started on the interior
Built some storage cabinets
Added a cooking stove, along with a custom made sink (Salad bowl) with a Copper tube/ball valve faucet.
Added some lights and second battery
We still need to stain everything and the water pump, and a lot of finishing details.

My old band used to have an AWD Astro that we used for some limited touring in the midwest. It was pretty great. Then we "upgraded" to an old Dodge 3/4 ton 15 passenger van with a carbed V8. Other than being bigger it wasn't an upgrade at all.
This is good inspiration- we’re in the hunt for a 24’ shuttle bus currently. Hope is to have a camper that could pull the boat or cruiser and camp with some style.

It's been a bit since I have posted any updates. Recently I rebuild the carb and had to replaced the cracked exhaust manifold.
I have also made changes to the interior (moved the fridge forward for additional counter space) and then stained the wood (Drawers and counter top) and last night started painted the framing white (needs more coats of paint), but it is turning out nice. Eventually I will move the window that is behind the fridge back and move the blanking panel to be behind the fridge.

This is what I have been up to lately.
A couple of months back my Sequoia with 339,000 miles hit a deer. I had nothing to do with it, I was just sitting behind the steering wheel. No time to react, luckily it was just body damage, nothing else. I was towing a trailer and it could have been much worst. The insurance totaled the vehicle, but I decided to keep it. Still arguing with the insurance company on what the vehicle is worth. They are offering me hardly anything for it, so I keep telling them no. Not sure how to deal with them, except not accepting their initial offer (if you have any advice, please let me know). Since I decided to keep it, I had to put it back together. Below are a few photos. Before, during and after a few trips to junk yards to get silver body parts. I did use the winch on the Troopy to pull as much of the metal straight, before cutting the radiator support out, to replace with a donor. I need to get back to working on the Troopy again. It's more fun.

Great thread! Just got an HJ45 pickup that I will be converting into an overlanding camper. Great to se that troopy! Inspiring!!
