Recently I've noticed when my 09 LX570 w/~96k miles is parked for a few hours, after I unlock the doors via touching the door handles and I get in the driver's seat, I hear from the engine area what sounds like a single "Pong" sound or like someone taking a screwdriver once and hitting a metal canister.

Not sure if it's due to recent hot 90 degree Seattle weather, but does anyone know what this sound is? Is it normal? FYI, I'm 5'11" and 165lbs, my weight it likely not a factor :)

Leave your hood open next time you park... Let it sit... Have a friend get in...while you watch and listen with your head under the hood. :) Might become clear...might not. If not...try again but under the front suspension.

Identifying weird sounds is definitely one of the most frustrating exercises in truckdom... :bang:

It may be one of your coil springs. It may be ajar or not in the bottom most position, that when you take a seat in the car, it settles. The springs have pads or plastic isolators too that prevent this metal on metal noise.

It's really nothing to worry about if it's that. You can try cycling the suspension from L/M/H to see if it changes its set.

Are you using the AHC ingress/egress mode in park? Try turning it off or on from what it is now. Does it change this behavior?

I get a ‘ping’ but think it’s because I’m in Ballard.

Thanks for your post. I leave the AHC at its normal height when I park. It makes sense that the coil springs are just "adjusting" as my weight changes the truck's height.
