Yeah i agree it looks like a 1pz unfortunately, i have a mate with one, goes alright but not anywhere near as good as my 1hz troopy. My LHD engine bay is set out the similarly, looks like you have factory lockers, factory dual batteries and a single fuel filter with pre-filter element. No aircon unfortunately. No dual tanks either.

There is an unknown device below/behind the airbox, and judging by the looks of all those aftermarket 5/8" heater hoses running along the firewall and down towards it and how they are diverting the block/cabin heater connection, my guess is an espar/webasto style block/cabin heater. Lucky you if it still works!

Hopefully the paint job for the movie wasn't too dodgy.

Do you have any more photos?

On second inspection I'm positive you have a diesel powered cab and block heater, i can see the exhaust pipe, modified fuel lines and the fuel filter/prefilter assembly might have been moved, or it has a second aftermarket filter. Hard to tell

1PZ and no title?!?!

I will take one for the 'team' and take off your hands for purchase price, unselfishly, to help you out.

Honestly, HZ swap would be easy and well worth the investment, measuring ROI with residual CEG (chit eating grins) with a daily payout.

NICE SCORE!!

I would put in a 1hd-t, the standard 1hz is still underpowered in a Troopy, especially if loaded

Flew to LA Monday and picked it up around 1pm, fired right up and purred. Rust is a little worse than I hoped, but it drives better than I could have imagined. 5 new 255/85/16 bfg km2s on old split rims. Seats are really comfortable Koenig fully sdjustable with Sparco 4 pount harnesses. Showed half tank, so my first goal was to fill her up and get the hell out the city of angels. 5 speed shifts smoothly, cluck and brakes feel good. Side mirrors won't hold in place. Freeway speed, no problem, other than a slight vibration.

Made it 400 miles and stopped for the night at Georg's. He fed me with great eats and stories of family, friends, and feats of four wheeling. I want to take this opportunity to thank you, Georg, for your hospitality and warmth.

Tuesday morning up and running, Georg gave the 75 a quick once over, answered a few noobie questions and off I go. Grabbed a few tools before I hit the road to tighten the mirror. Why did it look so new but perform so poorly? Within an hour of 70mph driving I heard a large thud. Shook it off and forgot about it until I went to get back in the right lane - passenger side mirror was gone!
I hadn't touched that one. Within an hour another thud this time right next to me. .. yeah, driver side mirror snapped off too! Cheap aftermarket knock offs! Rest of the trip was uneventful, another 600 miles and I was home!

Parts Search today, Found Some at Napa, Beno quickly replied to my requests for mirrors and filters, thank you! Then to the DMV, an hour of waiting the clerk looked at all my documentation, pondered a bit, physically inspected the VIN, pondered a bit more and decided to send it up the chain of command for them to review. The good : he took my money for new plates and title, handed me a 45 day temporary permit. The bad, I'm in limbo for up to 6 weeks to see if everything checks out.

Pics or it didn't happen!

Congratulations, the mirrors on the troopy aren't the best anyway, i got sick of mine moving in high winds or when passing trucks regardless of what i did to them and went for some aussie sold 70 series "clearview" towing mirrors. Not OEM, a little wide in standard form, but a vast improvement once you get used to them. Because of their large black mounting plate, they look more assimilated on deep coloured vehicles like yours than the white/beige models IMHO.

@billybongo63 Did you find out what that thing was under the airbox?
The cab heater?
It's plumbed for fuel, air and exhaust.
I don't see any controls , but an unknown 7 pin in the dash. Trying to find a German mechanic to help translate.

Nice! LOL on the mirrors! No looking back now!

x2 on the espar…

Today we drove forest service and powerline roads in the Columbia Gorge. The troopie performed well. I decided I don't like the split rims and will be looking to replace them in the future.
