Hey and thanks for the help if you can give any.

I have a 68 F engine 3 speed and thinking about putting in a 76 3 speed or 4 speed trans and TC. Which clutch package do I get? The older has the 3 prong pressure plate while the new one has many prongs. If I buy the new one will it fit the old fly wheel, fork etc??
And should I get the fly wheel machined if working properly and clean? Thanks

Welcome.

A 1976 would have had a four speed transmission in the North American market from the factory, not a three speed transmission.

You will need a four speed flywheel housing from a 07/80 and earlier 40/55 series truck to mate the four speed transmission to your 1968 F engine.

Get a clutch kit for your 1968, get your flywheel resurfaced, make sure your machine shop is aware that it is a stepped flywheel, look in the FAQ and get the step measurement and bring that with you because they will likely ask you for it and replace your rear main seal while you have the flywheel off.

The four speed transmission will work just fine with the earlier style clutch configuration.
