Ok, screw responsibilities, me and the boy are going.:bounce:

Fun day on the trails today! We had what 9 trucks and perfect weather, but not carnage free. Right off my rear locker stuck on, there must be something about this trail and my lockers? In the creek section Rob slipped off a rock into a tree and put an :whoops: on his flare. Then Blues Dawg slipped off a rock and put an :whoops: on his shinny yellow rear quarter!

After the main trail we went up Mount Peeley looking for another mine Cliff knew of, he found the trail on the way out. Half of the group needed to get home, so the rest of us hit the trail, it was narrow with washouts and off camber. Found the mine, a smaller, older version of Sunflower.

On the way out Spike made a very nice attempt at driving the White Elephant off of the cliff! Some quick strap work and we were on our way. I don't think his wife was impressed, she said something about wanting another baby before pushing him off the cliff!:D :bounce:

Geez, I don't know why I kicked my family out of the truck for that. Looks like I could have driven right out. I'm a big whiner. Heck, the alley behind my house looks more dangerous.

-Spike :D

I always asserted that there no significant blind spot in the FJ Cruiser, and there really isn't for traffic, but I did learn of the visibility limitations on that half mile in reverse down the narrow trail.

We were talking about a skills day, right?

And, I put my bow saw back with my recovery gear.

Good stuff!

...Rob slipped off a rock into a tree and put an :whoops: on his flare...

Tell Rob it's time to cut her up for some 39 IROKs...:grinpimp:

He's got a scratch on it now, it's a start. :D

Soon I won't be able to give him crap about wanting to trim the shrubbery on the trails. :frown:

You did drive right out:confused: It was only what a couple of hundred feet down? Every time you tried to move the truck, it went more sideways than forward, look at the mini rock avalanche below the left rear! Driving on those stacked dinner plates is slippery at best, I think the call to evacuate the family and attach the safety strap was well advised.:D

I agree, but the pic doesn't do it justice, as usual.

I stuck my head out the window to verify that my wheels were pointed uphill- from the way it was moving I wasn't 100% sure! It just wanted to slide sideways, no matter what I wanted. I'm just glad Cliff was in front of me and could lend a strap. All's well that ends well!

The pic may not have done it justice, but it looked pretty hairy scary. I was pretty sure Tools had the camera straight and you and the ground looked to be pretty uneven.

Spike, good call on the strap. I had a similiar situation on a on a muddy at the tree line shelf road in Colo. And I wasn't backing up like you. Off camber steep sloppy up hill with a root to pitch you toward the edge. I strapped to the guy in front and walked it like nothing. But if Murphy had showed up I'm glad the strap was there.

Blues  Hats off to the guy who can bring a new rig out and bash around with those of us who aren't still making payments. And sorry my co-pilot led us astray up the "back down" road.

Thanks - I consistently make the mistake of buying new trucks and old corvettes. But I buy the trucks for the trail (except the chevy, I bought that to haul building and landscape material) so I make every run I can...:bounce:

Fun trip. Yes, there were some tippy spots and a good mix of rock.

Hey, that's me! Sweet flex:flipoff2:
