Alternator went dead on my '99 so I picked up a replacement from Advance Auto.
Installed it and it was dead out of the box. It was the Hecho in Mexico version.
Reordered and the replacement was Made in China but overall seemed of much better quality.
That one is working fine.
However I now have a chirp which I have traced to the power steering pulley which was removed to get the alternator out.
Pulley has about 1/8" axial play. Bolt is torqued correctly, but the pulley moves in and out.
Is this normal? Or did I pooch something?
