Okay, so here is the deal. I am looking hard for a SM420. &nbsp:Does anyone know of junkyards that I can look for one in that is willing to ship. I am located in New Mexico. The yards here are tough to work with.

Cruiserman,
Yes I am planning on modifying my stock 73 drivetrain.

Thats a little pricey isn't it?
Spaceghosts adapter is $99, I thought I heard some people get the 420's from junkyards for less than $200.?

www.pirate4x4.com

go ck the 4sale section and do a search there a few for sale there

you should be able to find one for <$100. Especially if it is not rebuilt. If you look long enough you can find good deals. Mine was $40 and it did not need a rebuild.

I've heard a lot of good things about 4x4 Heaven(www.4xheaven.com), in Gloversville, NY, 1 800-800-1679; they do mail order. I'm pretty sure SM420's were found in 60's era heavy duty GM trucks (correct me if I'm wrong guys), so keep your eyes open for one of these trucks, I'm sure you could find a junked one near you.

Actually it's $125 which includes shipping, but thankks for mentioning it. :G

Haha oh yeah, that was someone else selling yours for 99, sorry. Is it still available? (If so you got yourself another customer) :D

If I recall correctly, 420s were in GM trucks from the late '40s to the late '60s or possibly early '70s. The came in all types of trucks... right down to pickups... just look for the big hump on the side of the tranny.

Pick and pulls around here sell 'em off for $100 or less... don't know about a full service yard and shipping though. Some of the yards I've been to would qualify as hard to work w/ as well, but the more I went back the better they became to deal w/... they seem to like people that come back, better than the one time shoppers.

Good luck w/ your search!
