Hey guys. My pitman arm on my scout box has some play. I am curious what other drop pitman arms work on my box? Any ideas out there?

Carmon

Scout box sector shaft is the same diameter as most of the generic GM boxes, so virtually all of the pitman arm offerings out there should work as long as your tie rod end is nothing special.

Straight pitman arms, 7" center to center-good in stock
Drop pitman arms [2.5 or 4"] 5.5" center to center-good in stock

Is your sector shaft nut tight? (did i say that?) Check to see if your splines are clean on both male and female parts of the fit up, and since the shaft is tapered, there is no reason that the pitman arm can be loose from the sector shaft. HTH John Pardi

VERY good point John. It is highly unusual for the arm to be loose, and he should definitely separate the parts first, check all the splines out and then try retightening the sub-assembly before considering replacing ANYTHING!.

Also check to make sure all the splines on the sector run straight up and down. I called someone out on this board for having a twist in their sector shaft[ VERY dangerous] Their cavalier response: Oh, they're just work hardened!

Best
