Pinion guards for 40 axles?

So you are talking about that tin pinion seal shield on the companion flange....

Yes that's what I was referring to. When mine get smashed I pry them back into shape with a big screwdriver......

Bet there's a removal and seal change in the FSM. Duh.

Yeah a pinion seal shield just doesn't get it - but for a lack of a better word, I guess one could call it that. My d-shaft and diff are all beat up - but I don't think I bend that piece that often.

Mine get trashed when I put the snatch strap around the drive shaft and up over the axle housing to winch myself out of tricky situations.. Usually requires replacement of the flange to get a new shield, and replacement of the pinion seal..
