Guys- this years Pig Run will be held at rausch Creek on August 24 and 25. Mark your calendars and let's wheel. Feel free to post here and also to email me shmukter@pa.metrocast.net and at work GSCHMAUCH@cartech.com. Get the word out to anyone who might have an interest in wheeling either or both of those days and let's have a good turnout this year!!! Last year's turout was not very encouraging although I must say the owners of those trucks that wheeled had a great time.
The pig run is very informal- I had shirts made a few different years but not this year, not enough time. The first year the event was at paragon with six piggies in the collection- second year was held at Rausch even though Paragon was still operating. As I said very informal- show up and run what ya brung. We usually have enough trucks to have several groups that divide up by capability of the truck and driver. Nobody is ever left without someone to wheel with.
Some people stay at the Comfort Inn in Pine Grove while most others camp free at Rausch Creek. Lots of people make it for just Saturday and go home after a day's wheeling. No meal provided, no raffle, no costs other than your entrance fee into Rausch Creek.
High water mark was eleven pigs on a foggy Saturday morning, must have been back around 2006. The number of 55s participating has slowly decreased. I don't even own a 55 at the moment- but that could change at any time!
I'd like to wheel the property across the road from the campground this year, I haven't been over there for two years and want to see what they've done over there. It's a few dollars extra to wheel that property but I'd like to take a group over there. Keep that in mind. Post up here and let me know who's coming- I'm going to put a link to this blurb on a few of the other club's sites so let's see what interest we have. I'll be in Germany for the next week with spotty internet access so I probably won't be posting daily. Thanks, Gary
