Guys- this years Pig Run will be held at rausch Creek on August 24 and 25. Mark your calendars and let's wheel. Feel free to post here and also to email me shmukter@pa.metrocast.net and at work GSCHMAUCH@cartech.com. Get the word out to anyone who might have an interest in wheeling either or both of those days and let's have a good turnout this year!!! Last year's turout was not very encouraging although I must say the owners of those trucks that wheeled had a great time.

The pig run is very informal- I had shirts made a few different years but not this year, not enough time. The first year the event was at paragon with six piggies in the collection- second year was held at Rausch even though Paragon was still operating. As I said very informal- show up and run what ya brung. We usually have enough trucks to have several groups that divide up by capability of the truck and driver. Nobody is ever left without someone to wheel with.

Some people stay at the Comfort Inn in Pine Grove while most others camp free at Rausch Creek. Lots of people make it for just Saturday and go home after a day's wheeling. No meal provided, no raffle, no costs other than your entrance fee into Rausch Creek.

High water mark was eleven pigs on a foggy Saturday morning, must have been back around 2006. The number of 55s participating has slowly decreased. I don't even own a 55 at the moment- but that could change at any time!

I'd like to wheel the property across the road from the campground this year, I haven't been over there for two years and want to see what they've done over there. It's a few dollars extra to wheel that property but I'd like to take a group over there. Keep that in mind. Post up here and let me know who's coming- I'm going to put a link to this blurb on a few of the other club's sites so let's see what interest we have. I'll be in Germany for the next week with spotty internet access so I probably won't be posting daily. Thanks, Gary

Pig run

I'll be at Rausch for both days of course, and Bill smith is in for the second run on his 40. Hoping a lot of the local guys who post on this club forum can make it- it's a "home game" for us. Gary S

I thought it was 12 or 14 55's, although not all of them wheeled.

Unfortunately, I'll be a long shot for this years Pig Run :frown:

Picture

Joe- thanks for the photo- it was an interested 5 mile ride that morning from thecampsite down I81 to Rausch. I can identify some of the trucks but not all- from left; Craig Merkey FJ40
Shayne Edmunds blue and white 77
Tim Hegameier 72 (my old truck)
Lance Williams
Tom Humphries
My orange and white pig
Jeff LaCarruba brown and white
Jeff Dozier
Brian Koerner

Last two I can't name, hope this helps, might jog someone's memory. The last blue and white 55 might be Joe Mylie's 79- Joe am I guessing right? By the way this photo was taken at the old staging area near the original entrance to Rausch, man it was foggy that morning.........Gary S

I added Chris Cole's name after mine....I don't know who had the last one.

Why is mine the only one with the hood up? :grinpimp:

stranger things have happened....I'll see what I can pull off - I ain't got no pig, but I have a commemorative t-shirt :)

Remember, this is a very formal event that sticks to tight schedule.
1. show up and listen to Gary spew off some BS about he doesn't want to have a big group and he is only gonna do greens and light blues
2. have someone spot you so that you get body damage
3. laugh as Joe Mylie goes through the nastiest water ever (unfortunately, my lab Sunshine passed away last week, so there will be no laughing as she swims through it :( )
4. have a great time wheeling
5. drink lots of beer at the campsite.

items 1-5 must be strictly adhered to....

Looks like I won't be able to make this event. We have two birthday parties the 25th plus the trail rig needs new rear shock in a bad way. Bouncing down the trail sucked last time out.

I'll be there, coming up Thursday afternoon.

Great Memories! What a day that was! Thanks for the picture!

I am hoping to be there, That is a very busy week for me as the students return for a new semester at work, and I have lots of staff training to do....Saturday would be the only possibility for me!

Craig

The wife and I are supposed to go to the shore that weekend but that could change.

You know, thats a good idea. I figure I could set up an umbrella on the beach for Kelly and then go for a swim in the 40 again! :flipoff2: :D

Only one week to go. How are the numbers looking Gary?

Pig run

Looks like about twenty trucks so far. Ya never know who might show and then again some commits may have a change of plans. There will be more 55's this year than last year............Gary

So what do the shirts look like, what's the menu for the dinner, and what's in the raffle?

Got child care for sat. Exhaust leak is being fixed now. Jeeper Jim and I will be up fri night. See if I remember how to drive off road.
