Look what got rescued from years of neglect, my neighbor George's one owner 72 FJ55 was pulled within range of help. I'm hoping to find a little manpower for a day of wrenching to see if we can bring her back from near death, under 50,000 miles so I'm thinking we can get her to run.

Is that an A/C unit on top?

Oh yea and she's a beauty, we are going to pull it off since it has caused roof leaks. But it sure would look nice on top of your rig!

Here is a look at the bloated headliner.

Thats a great foundation to start from. When is the wrench party?

That headliner looks like it's full of asbestos, be careful! ;)

Thanks Jeff, didn't really think of that.

Not sure just yet, I probably need to help him assess the needs and make a shopping list. I will probably squirt some Marvin's down each cylinder and let it do it's magic first so we have a fighting chance.

George is in for the premium beer buy so I will keep you posted. Maybe we can aim for a couple Saturdays down the line.

Very nice Kelly, definitely is a good base for sure. If the F proves to be too problematic, drop in a 2F and have more power. It will bolt right in

Negative Dave-O. A sunroof is a good idea, bet you get at least 2-3 mpg back too.

I like this pig, great story and project

Congrats Kelly.

NIce color combo too. Let us know on the wrench patry.

i say keep the F. they are good motors (like all the L/C motors) if it still runs?. i vote for weld in a new top i have seen sunroofs leak. not sure if they will. but the upholstery over there near my old shop did a friend of mines headliner years ago in his 55. i want to say they did it for a far price and it looked good also.

Thanks for the input, first is see if we can get it to run and stop and go from there. I bled the front circuit yesterday and she could stop both of us from 20 mph. Probably need to pull the drums off and take a look at the cylinders and linings, bleed again and lube the moving parts then adjust. If we get it running then on to the roof repair etc.

We will probably pull the AC to make it easier to cover. Hopefully this bad boy has seen the worst.

Awesome,

Guess you didn't need my stands?

Tucker

Pete had 4 across the street plus a nice big floor jack. 3-4 hours of wrangling and she followed me right home.
