Dave the throw out bearing is a skate board wheel size bearing that sits on the end of the transmission shaft.
Wouldn't the throw out bearing sit on the shaft that rides against the clutch. Jason it sounds like you are speaking of the pilot bearing/bushing. :flipoff2:

the early three speed cases are fairly loud and pigs are not known for their sound deadening properties

I'm not sure I understand what you mean? why don't you come show me on my truck:hillbilly::flipoff2:

I have a 4 speed trans, not sure which Tcase, and remember it's behind a Chevy V8 and I don't even know if that means Chevy Clutch or Toyota Clutch.

Development for this weekend.... turns out we didn't plan for anyone to stay home with our dog so I'M staying here. :) Still not sure I want to do 6+ hours in the Pig this soon but Kina, please shoot me over the directions, thanks. :)

It'll make it. We should start a betting pool.

Update:

Put about 30 miles on the truck Saturday, discovered my pass. side rear window was off the track, went to put it down and it just kept going. Got that put back together so it stays up but lowering it is still an issue as the lower channel that brings it up and down doesn't "grip" so you need to keep pressure on the top of the glass. Not a big deal, at least it's closed.

Got a bunch more painted, looking pretty good so far, will get pics if it ever stops raining.

Gas leak is under control as long as I keep it at half a tank. Need to run the rest of the gas out and lower the tank. Bought some repair stuff but we'll see if that's even possible. Have no idea the extent of the damage.

I think the trans is fine, loud, but fine. I still need to have one of you guys hear it first hand though.

I really need to get some buckets in there, the bench is way uncomfortable and I'd be be 110% happier driving it if I could sit back a couple more inches.

Had along chat with Gary last night about my gas tanks and am feeling optimistic about being able to drop it and repair it. :) Need to empty the tank out first though.

Got more of the truck taped up last night, if the weather ever dries out I can get some more paint onto it.

If your gonna drop it, you should just invest a little more time and clean it out as well.

Nice!

My 40 was camo when I bought it too. Did the same thing, patched up a few dents, sanded, primer, and rattle canned it gloss white with black trim. Actually came out very nice and you couldn't tell it was rattled unless you got up close, and even then some folks couldn't tell.

Can't wait to see that finished.
