Sorry Dave...

We're all basically kids anyway. Once you play with a toy for a while you want another one. Nothing wrong with switching it up...it keeps things fun. Nobody gives Kina a hard time for having 2 dozen cruisers or Randy for buying a troopy after he already has the perfect 40. I bet if Dave kept the 55 and bought a 40 nobody would blink. I honestly can't figure out why anyone cares whether someone else holds on to a truck or sells it.

Good luck Dave! I'll help you sell that 40 when it comes time!

that is well said .
i would i would like to see dave wheel i don't think i have seen Dave wheel his rigs yet if it involves setting up a wrenching party for you Dave id gladly make some time to do so :D

Guys, it was just an observation, I didn't mean to offend anyone.

I've tried to follow along on some of these threads and it's been a challenge to say the least. What complicates things is you name the GD things and then refer to them in that manor. I don't know if your talking about the wife, dog , truck or the neighbor's step child sometimes.:D

Dave, hope you get what you want and have a happy and long lasting affair with it.

To clarify, my posting wasn't in anger in any way. Hopefully it didn't come across that way. merely making an observation and having a spot of fun....

11:30 and I've got the yard all cleaned up and the pig in the garage.

Used my sweet new gas can from KLF to put some gas in her and she started up like buttah.

Having some lunch then I'll be tearing into the dside floor.

Get After That Pig Dave!

16 gauge patch pieces are cut, bent and bolted in place, a bit loose still as I want to squeeze some silicone or something under them before tightening them down.

There's no way for me to recreate the floor support but I bent the floor piece in the right place (as opposed to the PO's old patch) so that I can bolt straight up through level floor. I'll sub out the beat up old rubber spacers for some poly body lift spacers from AutoZOne and use new hardware. It will be worlds better then what was there and hopefully good enough to get me through inspection.

I've got a few small holes that will get the fiberglass treatment, then paint it all up with black Rustoleum like I did the other side. Should be good. :) I think I'll get some of that spray can rubberized undercoating for the underside, just to protect(disguise) the new work.

Should be ready to bring to the garage this week. Need to swap the tires to the new steel rims so no more TRE rubbing.

hmmmmm...... not much else necessary I don't think. Lots of thinks still to do of course but as far as the State of VT is concerned I am (hopefully) very near ready to roll.

On the negative side, WEAR EYE PROTECTION! I had a chunk of rust/dirt drop into my eye while I was under the truck and I'm still seeeing blurry. Yuck.

Dave-

Don't use SILICONE! Many reasons why, even for a "temporary" repair, but do yourself a favor and get some automotive seam sealer. Or better yet, some panel glue (yes, they glue cars together now :D).

Congrats Dave!!!!! I bet once you pass inspection you won't be able to sell that piggy.

What color are you thinking of painting it??

The paint I referred to was for the floors to cover the metal patches. ;)

The truck itself is staying as-is for now but we're talking about painting it at some point this summer.

the red-ish/ornang-ish and white combo?

found the right bolt and washers last night. Need to clean up the mounts and bolt everything together tonight.

My wife and son are planning the truck painting, it will be a rattlecan job but it certainly can't look worse then eh current scheme. At the moment they are leaning towards off-white top and darkish blue bottom. Not sure about the interior. The PO was crazy and repainted ALL the interior and engine compartment olive but I'd like to redo it back to the off white.

All that comes AFTER she gets a sticker.

Get the sticker, Bring it down and we will take it out to the back 40 and try it out

Floor patched and painted. Yeah!

Raw metal underneath painted with Dupont rubberized undercoating.

Body rebolted through the now flat floor. Better then it was for sure. Haven't driven it yet to see if the clunk is gone though.

Started replacing door weather seals. Purchased 8 pieces, all 4 doors, from a guy here on MUD, they are the JCW parts. The body side is easy, only did one door piece, around the Dside front and it's a pain, not really on there very well. At least the door shuts tight now....real tight.

I think the ebrake will pass inspection, I can't for the life of me get the driveshaft dropped at the rear axle to replace the ebrake guts (which I have).

Still need to have the tires swapped to the correct rims.

I've got people over all weekend but I'm hopeful that I'll finish it up and be bringing the Piggie to the Swanzey Cut on June 1!
