apparrently, my 2+ years of incessant throttle jockey abuse and severe lack of driving skill resulted in some darned purty carnage...

Bobby, expect a call soon for a pair of 4340 27-spline Longs.

(3 pics, just to be sure one turned out...lol)

oh yeah, and that little piece next to the junk Long is the remains of my t-case front output after Mission Impossible in Sept.....found it in my glove box finally.....lol

That's funny - I kept looking at that and trying to figure out how the hell it came out of a birf...

It's hard to tell from the pic but is that pig inner bent? Nice carnage by the way.

What's the news on PIG's own 30 spline birfs and inners? Are they available yet?

looks like you nuked that long. good work lol
any reason your not going with bobbys 30 spline stuff other than $$$$?

$$$$ is the factor....got enuf expenses with new tires/rims, tranny/t-case change, and rear axle change this winter....

Also, from what I've read, the 27-spline stuff is nearly as strong, and allows interchangability in the RARE chance it would break.

Given how beaten the welded ring portion of the long is, my steering stops were likely a bit tight too...lol

That's some impressive breakage if it threw shrapnel into your glove box.

:flipoff2:

Ok its killing me, what broke?

star is complete, birfield is complete with no cracks or pieces,

Did you just pop the inside guts on the birf? or toss a ball out the ring?

yes i see the cage popped but thats it.

looks to me like the guts finally just wore...I definitely didn't have the stops adjusted properly, the ring is thrashed...as is the star and the bell itself....

your a nut. shouldn't drive a piece of history like that. lol schweet.

P.S. your still a nut

looks like the pig 4340's worked out great.. Why Pigs 4340 inners Vs the Long 4340 Inners..

I think longfield needs Woody do do some 30 splined Tests and write up.. for free of course... ;)
seriously givving woody a product to test is a great way to market..

had I known Bobby was comin out with 30-spliners, I'd have waited....those DO seem to be the total-bling strength option

at the time, I like the idea behind the PIG inners that keeps the twist issues spread throught the shaft. They ARE still unbroken...lol

Gotta call Bobby tonite, lunch was too derned busy....

actually on the pbb in the mini truck section a guy broke his pig with longfields 27 chromoly

I kept thinking it was a pinion part.

Nice kablowie! Any photos of where it happened on the trail?

On the 27spl vrs. 30 dont see why one would go 30. The 27 slpl keeps the weak spot away from your 3rd. With a 30 spl it’s a toss up 3rd or birf. I would much rather deal with a chunk of busted axel out on the birf over jammed up in the locker.

the PIG's that broke in the PBB threads were all GenI...mine are GenII, not sure how big a difference that makes tho....

actually, the breakage happened at a very boring spot, but there were two sections just prior where it was definitely beaten on pretty hard.....

this was the 1st of the 2.....made this line, good thing too since it would have been a LONG roll to the bottom....

Mark,

I told him the same thing the other day - some day thse kids will start listening...

If something is going to break (which is way over rated - breakling just pure sucks!) I'd rather it be away from the r&p.
