All,

I got this mount off Ebay a few weeks ago. Mounted it up this past weekend and it works great!! It is much easier to nav. with. Went out exploring and it was lots of fun. Just posted pics cause I have seen a few people ask about mounting laptops in a 80 series.

Looks good.....

Warning: Total Thread Hijack (TTH)

Wonder why the leather seats in my 94 are different than those in yours? In fact, I've yet to see others that look like mine. Also don't have the padded center console in mine. Anyone else have different seats?

Were yours recovered cloth seats? I've seen kits to swap a cloth interior to leather. I've seen them in 91s and 92s and it looks factory.

That is a cool mount. I'm going to need one of those soon.

hmmm, maybe so, but I have the leather inserts on the doors as well. Guess it could of all been part of a kit.

i know beo loves to answer these posts, but i'll give it a shot -- you prob. have cloth seats re-upholst. with leater --

-- the missing center arm-rest is a tell-tale of this --

waldrtw,

Nice set up. Who is the manufacturer of the lap top mount?

Ouch, just an inquiry chief.

waldrtw,

What did you do to get your steering wheel to look so good??? That looks new!

Looks good , great deal !! I have a few questions :

  • How stable is it in stops ?
  • Stability on washbrd at speeds ?
  • Does it allow beneath laptop cooling/venting ?
  • Does it allow the laptop to lock to it ?
  • How are you securing the laptop to the base ?
  • Can you provide pics of the mounting points , and a brief writeup please ?
  • Any pics of range of motion ?

Thanx !

Can you take a few pics of how it's actually mounted to the floor/tranny-hump? That's the part I'm most worried about. It looks very good though! Does it have any suspension, I have seen some that do and with awesome 4wheeling mine might need that, course most would ask WHY I have my laptop running while wheeling, which is a valid point.. :D

Can you still sit in the passenger seat without it being horribly in your way?

Oh, and the Thread-Hijack...your vehicle is WAY to clean!! Get it dirty, some old TacoBell wrappers kicking around, then take some pictures! :D

Here comes som more pics. I just drilled and bolted it thru the tranny hump. Very easy. The mount can lock you computer in place. I believe it is made for a smaller laptop beacuse mine will not fully lock in place. For know I just put some velcro on the bottom and use a strap. I went of exploring this past weekend and it did not bounce around or anything. I ran the laptop for about 6 hours straight and did not have a prolbem with overheating it. Here are the pics and range of motion.

Will clear the passanger knee.

Can be removed.

Moj,

You probably had leather added at the port. As Eric said, the telltale sign of port installed leather instead of factory is no leather cushion on the center console. First hand knowledge from sis-in-law's LC.

Since we are totally hijacking this thread - what's the wet stuff on the windows??? Can you send some to SoCal. It's only mid-May and fire dangers are already posted as HIGH. Jeez - it's going to be a horrific fire season. I just hope I'm wrong.

bolts (yes to long and no lock washers)

THe stuff about the leather seat is that if it did not have electric controls for the seat, the steering wheel is not covered in leather, the shift nob is not covered in leather then you have what is called Port installed leather. This is where the cloth was stripped from the seats and the inner door panels and replaced with a kit here in the states so the dealers could sell the vechicle with leather and the buyer paid for a preminum that was not installed at the factory. later robbie
