Picking up new HE edition tomorrow, dealer will not install coil spacers.

Was hoping to have coil spring spacers installed before picking up. Dealer would not install due to change of angle of vehicle. I told them many people have done it to no avail. They even contacted the toyota regional new England Mgr. I have read that this has not been a problem with the sensors. I did get a peak at the new vehicle and I definitely want the spacers for leveling. I guess I will have to find another garage that will do it. Is this common for toyota not to put this spacer in? It is a OEM part.

Bottom line, yes. Many dealers are not into what they consider ‘customization’ as they believe it is a risk issue. My guess is any tire place that replaces shocks can do this for you.

Just find a different Toyota dealership until you find one that has no problems doing modifications. Some will do anything, and other won't even change your windshield wiper blades lol.

Technically you should recalibrate the adaptive cruise control sensor if you change the height of the front. It will work if you don’t but it may not judge the distance the same. I think it will pick up vehicles further away and activate the match speed sooner. I don’t think that would be less safe but might be annoying.

It is simple as I have done this. They will not install unless you agree to do:
1.) wheel alignment
2.) recalibration of computer if it throws errors (legally they cannot let you leave with system not properly working)

#2 may not be required but for their protection you need to agree on it. It is 4hr labor so not cheap. As soon as I have agree to do that if an error, work went on. There was no error and only had to pay for install and wheel alignment.

BTW the toyota dealer may not know that the coil over spacer is a toyota part and that you are not trying to install after market part. This change the conversation immediately for me.

Similar experience here. My Toyota dealer quoted the install of the coil spacers and that’s it. I had to bring the issue of wheel alignment for them to quote. Although, I suspect at some point the technician would bring the need for alignment and they would call me. I bought the parts from them, but I don’t think this makes any easier if they plainly refuse to install “mods”. After install I went into the My vehicle page in the Toyota owners website and they listed the coil spacers install and wheel alignment. Nothing listing sensor recalibration. My sensors are working just fine, same as before the installation.

No calibration unless system error after install. Definitely you would know that you had calibration as you would get an extra $500 bill for it.

Mine will not install regardless, OEM or not. So I decided to just skip the spacer and go straight to Kings in the fall. I can do the spacer myself, just don't have the time right now.

Mine now activates super far away. Like 4 car lengths even when on the closest setting. Great for when I'm driving with the wife as she's much more cautious than me, I typically turn it off when going solo

Was to pick up my cruiser today. Dealer called and said had a problem. While prepping the HE cruiser it was backed into another vehicle. Damaged the rear bumper and needs to go in for repair. I could not believe it. Just my luck. They said they would rush the job. I told the manager I should be compisated. The assistant manager is to talk with the manager. I have a feeling they will do nothing.

That truly sucks. No way I’d take a brand new ~80-90k car that had a repair before delivery, Land Cruiser or not.

Wow, thats awful. I dont think I'd take delivery at this point. Will the repair show on a Carfax?

I'll bet at minimum it'll show up on Toyota owners maintenance history. That could cost you down the road if you ever sell it and a buyer sees the repair on their website.

I would either request to split the difference for an aftermarket market bumper or have them order me a another 200. If it’s just superficial and won’t be reported on Carfax or Toyota maintenance history, then maybe request a few free oil changes.

If it shows up on Carfax it will affect value, I had a rear small hit only 1k of damage, new rear bumper and repaint and a reflector dam thing took a hit on my value I should have just paid out of pocket.

Aftermarket rear bumper time on their dime.
This is the only acceptable solution. Do not allow them to repair and have it input into the Toyota system or carfax. IF nothing structural was damaged. If something structural was damaged, demand they get you another cruiser.

I would request to see the damage and as other have said I would want it not to show up on any records. While you might plan to keep it forever, some dip**** might total it for you down the road and previous damage could affect the insurance payout.

Given the vehicle is going to be in the shop, you should suggest they add the spacers :-)).
