So being a new LC owner and my first day off-roading the PHH blows out, luckily it wasn't a total rupture. So after searching around and investigating I bought the bypass kit from 1fzfephh.com , I did the workaround today. I must say if I didn't come here for guidance it would take me forever so I give my thanks!. So to help out other I took a few pics of my job. All I have to say is that it was easier to do this than my fuel filter. :) some pics aren't clear but I posted them anyway.

Here is the way 'I' did it.

1. Drain coolant, remove heater hose connected to down tube and loosen and remove the upper tube bolt. (no need to remove the lower bolt the way I did it here)

2. Remove driver side wheel and inner wheel well skirts.(my wheel was stuck on there good and took 30 min to remove)

3. Remove Transmission filler tube upper and lower mounting bolts and brake line bracket bolt. (allowing the trans. tube and brake line to freely move to get my arms in the there made this a lot easier)

4. Use 45 Deg long angled pliers to remove the clamps. (this is the tool that made the job possible!)

5.Remove PHH. No way to say how to do this but just dont bend or damage the block side nipple tube. (loosening the upper down tube bolt allowed me to swing the metal tube enough to pull the hose off with the pliers. (nice hole huh? badly engineered placement by Toyota IMHO)

6.Install the hose onto the nipple as close to the block as possible. To ease install I just spit in the inside of the tube (yeh gross but it worked perfect and it was free)
Tighten clamp with 5/16 socket.

7. Bend the old heater tube out of the way. (now instead of wrestling with the lower bolt and removing the downtube all I did was get a tire iron and bent the tube out of the way of the new hose. I checked before I did this and it seems it will not hit anything. The top of the tube bent towards the intake since the pivot point is at the lower tube bolt. it is now wedged close to the intake but not touching anything important so I left the tube there without removing it totally. (the pic is not clear but if you can figure it out the tube is being pushed by the tire iron and all done.)

Hope this helps someone out!

Congrats! How was the length of the hose? Too long or just right?
