pfran LED Kit (1 Viewer)

Planning on getting a pfran LED kit. I sent him a message last night but just saw that he hasn't signed it since April, so I'll ask my question here. I assume he's still making and supporting the kits? I couldn't find anything to the contrary but 6 months offline seems like a long time for a product that's so widely recommended

Here was my question:
I'm about to order one of your kits for my "new" '98 LC and had a couple questions. I'm wanting to add the backup lights, but am not sure about the parking lights. Is there any visibility advantage to swapping them out, is it just for aesthetics? I saw where you said you included them because it was an easy swap but everyone seems to only post awesome interior pics so I have no idea what's going on with the parking lights

parking lights would mostly be to get just matching color lights in my opinion.

I really prefer the warm lighting color as opposed to the typical LED white.

What do you do for door lights? Any pics in your truck?

Parking lights are more blues than headlights, but may match a led headlight upgrade better. Option for red map light, Door lights it covers them all. love it; buy the whole kit comes with some spares.

Thanks for the pics!! Red map light to preserve night vision? I guess I could use it like a mobile red light district to pay for all the Slee bumper/skid plates I want

I went with the backup lights and was surprised with the result. The lights are bright and white but the bulbs are similar to projector type, meaning they have a lens that focuses/ controls the beam. The result is no light at all right behind the vehicle until the beam strikes the ground about ten or fifteen feet back where you begin to see light. Someone suggested going with one of this type of bulb and one standard on the other side. Don’t know how that would look/work.

I left mine in. Knowing the light pattern I would not go with these again.

Great feedback. I'm often backing into remote campsites and use the lights to make sure I don't hit anything. I was looking forward to having more illumination. Guess I'll keep looking for those

Colo Kid how did you take the lenses of the map lights off so you can change the bulbs?

Note: Apparently the light covers can be removed and bulbs changed without pulling the housing. See post below.

I was pretty disappointed with my kit. Not much brighter than the stock interior lights if at all.

I am not going to disagree with you that the light pattern is different... BUT I very much prefer these to stock because they cast light further back and if there is something behind you that is off the ground my more than 6 inches or so You can catch it in the light still but everything else is significantly brighter. And besides if you don’t have a backup camera you are probably not seeing much closer than 10-15 feet directly behind you anyway.

Just my $.02 for what it is worth.

Didn't ask me, but you need to pull the whole overhead cluster. Open the sunglasses holder, remove one screw, pull cluster down (4 clips). Then there are 3 electrical connectors to completely remove cluster. The map light fixtures are held by screws from inside cluster. Test for correct polarity before buttoning up completely.

Actually it is much easier. Small screwdriver you can see a small slot. Pop it out and your good . If I can do it you know it easy

Have white on passenger side and red on driver. The red is nice because it doesn’t blind you.
