I am a medical missionary in Arequipa Peru with a FJ80 land cruiser. The registration says it is a 1991, so I ordered parts from partsgeek.com and when my inlaws brought them, it was apparent that they did not fit(we made it work) my 3F engine( engine number 3F 0331756) . The distributor cap i ordered was a bolt on, the one on the car appears to be pre-FJ80(see picture) it has a latch system. The water pump has an extra port(see picture).

I looked for a VIN number and cannot find one: under passenger seat carpet, dash, chassis(only had the frame number..see pic). Any thoughts on why this car doesn't have a VIN?

Please help me understand what I am driving? Year? In the future what parts should I order? Where is the VIN number? Does it look like a normal 3F engine or just ghetto Peruvian modified?

Thanks so much in advanced for your help.

You have a 3F not a 3F-E. You are not fuel injected, therefore any parts that are specific to the 3F-E will not work. You have a vacuum advance distributor, not the EFI version that was standard in the US.
The 3F-E water pump has an additional output for the throttle body which you do not have. You have a carburetor. And a 5 speed manual transmission.

Even the coil doesn't match what all the part stores say is for 1991... it has the 1988 or older coil... Is that also normal for the 3F not 3FE engine... Does it just have parts from the older models? Should I buy parts for a 1988 model?

You're missing the point here. You don't have the EFI version of the 3F engine. The ignition components will be different. The 3F was never offered in the US, so I doubt any US based supplier will ship you the correct parts.

The right thing to do is to reach out to @beno (Onur) at Land Cruiser Parts and Consulting. Welcome to LCPC
He can at least give you the correct part numbers for your application and possibly get them to you as well. He is a good human and a sexy beast.

Thanks Jon. What US website would you recommend buying parts? Any thoughts on the absence of VIN?
IIRC VIN numbers are for US spec vehicles. You do not have a US spec 80 Series so I wouldn't expect US spec items.

Ok, I will help you here is a link to EPC (electronic part catalog) of your model. I used the info from the rig plate you posted

TOYOTA LAND CRUISER 80FJ80L-GCMNS - TOOL-ENGINE-FUEL - | Japan Parts EU

When you will push the link you will get the main window like in the picture

Vin number will be stamped on the frame in front of the passenger front wheel and on the back on frame don't remember which side stickers can fall, but stamps can only rust (at list 2 stamps on frame)View attachment 1539235

Not all 80 series have VIN numbers, many have only frame #'s, HDJ81's for example have only frame #'s anywhere on them.

Thanks everyone for all your help. I am grateful. Now heading to the 3 city blocks that deal in car parts to search....
