As some of you would know, the trusty 1HZ is definatly not renowned for its power. So I was wondering what can be added or how can it be modified to get a few extra horses out? Apart from turbo/ supercharging..
Boring/ stroking?
Intakes?
Exhaust?
That's just a few of the top of my head so what else can be done??

Join the LCOOL forum in OZ, use the search function and you will find the answers, the USA doesn't get diesel 100's

Search around the diesel and maybe the 70 Series section here, the 1HZ came in enough other trucks that there has to be some corporate knowledge in there somewhere.

That being said, I have the Turboglide on my Troopie and that was a huge improvement over a NA 1HZ. I'd turbo before I'd stroke a motor. Mostly due to the traditionally high cost of a stroker kit (if there is one) and the associated labor.

Larger exhaust might help a little. If you have decent diesel shops local, then you can look into different or modified injectors, maybe tune the pump a little.

Bottom line it is a tractor motor pushing around what is a ~5300 lb truck before mods.

Hello,
i have this car .
You can use exhaust 6 in 1, "peacemaker" or "genies exhaust".
On my car i have 6 in 1, but it's good in sand and dunes, not for driving on the road, it's not good!
For really up the power, the turbo is good.
You can use turbo but just on the engine with little miles (new engine).
After you can use exhaust 3''.
Increase the diameter without turbo is not good!

Be very careful of installing an after market turbo on this engine, the pistons are not designed for it, they sit too high in the chamber, you will burn holes in your pistons, you can order the correct pistons from Toyota they are shorter and have bigger indents on the tops of them. I also thought this was garbage until I had holes in my pistons, not a cheep fix

There are a couple of threads on this, some in the 70 series section and some in the Diesel tech. I recently purchased a 2013 76 series that has the 1HZ and have also been looking at turbo solutions.

There are a couple of ways to approach it.

Gbentink is a fellow ih8mudder who has developed his own kit that he also sells. I will probably buy mine from him. If you do a search for gbentink and 1hz you should get some relevant thread hits.
