performance products springs...anyone?

Back when I used to get Performance Products catalogs, I was always under the impression they were made by Eibach Spring Company, a manufacturer of performance suspensions. I considered them for my 80, but in the end wanted more lift and went with OME. I always thought they would be pretty good springs though and get you around having to mess with the castor.

Progessive Rate Springs in General

I'm sure this thread is dead but I was hoping there would be more interest in progressive rate springs on this forum. It seems Nay hit it on the head with his conclusion that the FOR lift is as close to perfect of a blend for an unloaded or lightly loaded vehicle that wants to crawl, haul, etc. Right now it seems Performance Products and Eibach or the only two besides Frankies (and who knows when that lift will be available again...not throwing Frankies under the bus but it is just the truth right now). Anyone else out there...?

I just ordered some ironman 2" springs and plan to use them until Frankie gets some more springs in. I'm gonna throw a 1.25" spacer on these ironmans so I can finally put the Bilsteins from FOR's kit on my truck. It may ride like crap but eventually I'll get it worked out.

+1

I don't want or need the high spring rate of OME's and would love to have 1-2" progressive rate coils.

Ironman springs...

Cj80cruiser,

I saw the link you posted on another thread on those ironman springs. Do those guys ship overseas. I am station here in Guam and it is a part of the US so I don't have to worry about customs but just wondering what the price would be. I guess I can just get in touch with them.

PP springs...

They are made by H&R last time I checked which was about a year ago. The 2nd gen 4runner folks really like those 4runner springs for the rear. I think they would be a great match with OME 851's/Ironman 2'' up front on a lightly loaded rig. I just wish I could purchase the rear coils only. 851's/Ironman 2'' + PP progessive 1'' rear + a 1'' body lift and 2'' rear bumpstops would be close to ideal for a lightly loaded rig wanting to run 315's. With flares removed you would be getting close to 23'' hub to flare edge both front and rear. But I would have to pay $250 for the whole set then try and sell the front springs. I just bought the Ironman 2'' springs off of the ebay site your talked about and got to them to Guam. I don't want the stick bug look and have the bumpers removed with no armor and will probably be going with MAF 30mm rear spacer and then a 1'' body lift. OME 862's would not do much for my rear since the vehicle only has 58,000 miles on it and the rear springs are solid. I am running 265/75's for now because I got a great deal and you can't even get 315's here with out ordering them and paying tirerack $300 (only vendor that even had shipping for less than $500) to ship them and then wait for at least a month. They do have some 285/75's on island but they are priced so high I could order the 315's + the shipping and pay the same price. I'll eventually fab some basic front and rear bumpers after I do the body lift. Anyway...I doubt anyone is listening, but I have been soaking up all I can from this site (to my wife's dismay) and I have stripped the truck of all the flash and dash, ripped out all the carpet, Hippo lined the rockers and flares, removed the rear seats, relocated the spare to inside the rear, installed Mr. Gasket front spacers, and removed front bumper and rear bumperettes. I do need to learn how to arc weld without killing myself, and I do have access to a machine shop/auto hobby shop here on base pretty much for free. I do enjoy it so I'll keep you posted. Or maybe just my self posted...but I know like Vader said to Luke,"You have grown strong in the force young Skywalker, but you are not a Jedi yet..." I'm still a newb...but I'm rising up!

So start your own thread and post up some pics from Guam! Welcome :flipoff2:

Will do!

Why would you spend that much on a 1" lift when you can do spacers for way cheaper? Don't know about the spring but if your springs don't need to be replaced I would go with the spacers. if you get them keep us posted.

Ironman 2'' springs in...

Finished putting the ironman 2'' springs in up front. Springs only up front with OEM shocks and not castor correction. Flares are off and so is the front bumper. Stock hub to flare edge measurements: PS-20.25, DS-20. After install: PS-22.75, DS-22.5. So more like OME 851's but I'm sure they will settle a bit. Considering my rear is at 21'' right not I will add a MAF 30mm spacer and that should even everthing out. Don't think I'll go with the caster correction until I get a sweep and figure out how bad it is. Drives no different than before. Pics coming soon...
