So... I ordered a replacement PCV valve grommet - and the 'new' OEM grommet looks like it might be TOO BIG. I have a '76 2F block and an F (maybe F.5 head - per the PO)

PN checks out.

Does this look like there is a section of grommet broke off inside of the vent tube?

Erik, I purchased one from NAPA for couple of dollars and fits perfect. Your old grommet is still in there upon removal of old the new OEM grommet should work.

Are you replacing the pcv valve also or just the grommet? Everyone is telling me that the valve is NLA.

I just read your thread regarding hesitation upon acceleration, and now this one. Grommet does indeed look broken off, and yes, fitting it into crankcase breather, it is snugggg. The inner diameter where PCV goes appears similar... Try it and see :meh:

Your block SN appears to be around '86-87... with an earlier F head? Interesting. Given the history of a rebuild et cetera, I wonder if the head was decked too much / block top shaved, creating too much compression? And thus the heat issue messing with fuel/air mixture in Weber carb after running 20-30 minutes? You've been battling this, in the ring for seven rounds... and the bell sounds for round 8 :hmm:

Thanks..... I'm trying to get the other portion out now.

My PCV valve was available from Toyota, I ordered 2. I ordered the grommet AFTER I changed the valve and found the grommet had a crack part way..... Once I went to replace the grommet - I was fully split and that's when I saw the difference in size.

I got one I thought was too big at NAPA so I ordered OEM grommet and PCV valve and they were the same size. Like the others have said, it is tight but really does work.

HA HA HA ! Gotcha !
