So I am on a road trip and stopped at Koons Tysons Toyota, in Vienna, Virginia. I asked about a timing belt for my 00 LC. They quoted me $75.00 to replace the PCV valve; because I needed a "New one," and $1695.00 to do the timing belt, h20 pump, and gaskets. OK,OK,OK stop laughing or gasping in horror. Not gonna happen. Prices are ridiculous correct? Yes, warranty service at Toyota is pretty good but should they straight out rob someone for a PCV valve at $75.00 after warranty expired?

my two cents

Wow, that's steep for a $4 valve from Rockauto! It's tough finding a good dealership that treats you fairly. I would have a hard time keeping my mouth shut if somebody quoted me $75 for a PCV valve!

I just laughed and walked out.

I once had a FJ62 and the Marina Del Rey Toyota (Marina Del Rey, CA) mechanic, Ken Hiramoto, brought me into the bay to show me what was wrong with my 4wheel drive. The vacuum solenoid was shot. He suggested used parts and gave me a bunch of phone numbers and showed me how to replace it for free. I found a used one for $24 and that included shipping! That was only in 2001; how times have changed.

Have you replaced a hardened, cracking one on an 80 series yet? hahaha
