Thought I would get some opinions/advice..
My 100 is going in to an Exhaust Pros tomorrow to have the passager exhaust manifold replaced.
Labor:$640.00
Parts:$343.00 (not all toyota)

Is there any disadvantage not using toyota parts?
Anything I should look for as far as quality of workmanship after the job is done?
Should I have them check the exhaust vavles?

Thanks in advance.

That is some crazy labour! Did you get a second estimate. I run a Toyota Service dept and wouldn't mind getting away with charging that. I changed mine through the the psg side wheel well. Out and in in just over 2 hrs.

X2 on the labor cost! The passenger side is the easy side and should not take more than 2 hours. It took me about 4 hours to do both of mine.
What parts are not Toyota?
I didn't think there were any after market manifolds only headers and that would mean both would need replacement.

Yea I agree.

I checked around and a majority of indipendant shops were quoting me eight hours when I originally had my drivers side done. Some did not want to touch it.

My the toyota dealer is 100.00 per hour, so I didn't bother with them. The service managers don't seem to understand the similarites between my lx and an lc. I am sure the techs do though at the dealer...

I ended up having exhaust pros do my drivers side in March 2015, and they advised it would be the same cost for the passenger side...about 1k..

Drogon, I would shop around, because those prices are exorbitant. You could probably provide whoever is providing the labour with the original Toyota part for less than what they are charging just in parts. At least that's the route I'd take. Most aftermarket parts are inferior to OEM equivalents.

Kind of OT, but can the experienced chime in on how to undo the buttons that hold the wheel well liners?

Like I said, the passengers side is the easy side and should not cost the same as the drivers. I think the problem is most shops charge high anticipating seized bolt which is very common when working with exhaust, so you are paying for the unknown. A honest shop will truly charge you for the time it takes and not what the book says it will take.
Your local Toyota dealer may be $100 per hour but they may also charge you for 3-4 hours instead of 8.
Worth a look, I'm still curious to what parts they are using that are not Toyota? The only parts would be the manifold and gaskets, possibly some bolts or studs.

Sounds like manifold and gaslet's are not. I had the order a Toyota heat shield in case the old one is shot.

I do have a bit of undercarriage rust. This might play into their quote like you mentioned about the unknown.

I'll give toyota a call and see what they come up with...

Noob question...if I do go with the toyota dealer, would there be a problem if my drivers side was recently replaced with a non toyota manifold, and I replace the passenger with toyota parts?

Called toyota dealer and received a quote of about 1200.00 parts and labor...:( 7.5hrs

Man it must just be different areas!
I was not aware that there was a oem style manifold offered, when I was looking I could only find oem or headers, I would say go Toyota on the gasket and on the manifold it would not be as important to go oem, after all, the oem manifold is what is giving you and so many others problems.
Good luck

Where are you located? Mine probably took me less than 8 hours for both sides, with hand tools, in a tight garage. I could do both sides in a pro shop in way less than 8 hours, and I'm a novice

My recommendation: Order some DT headers and install them yourself...

Ill be doing the driver side. Whats the difference between OEM and using DT headers? Are they cheaper than toyota parts? Better performance? Wil never crack?

FWIW/FYI: DT Headers for 100/470 2UZ-FE + CARB states = No bueno.

I'm located in Rapid City,SD.
Dropped it off this morning. Will see how it goes.

I picked up the 100 from Exhaust Pros. Came to $735.00 with Toyota parts. So better than originally thought.
