Would anyone happen to know if the peak pink/red Asian vehicle coolant will be fine? It’s like $24 for 1 gallon of concentrate.

I’m at around 100k on a 14 year old vehicle…so I’m good on mileage but apparently 7 years late to swap out the coolant.

Supposedly this coolant will cause head gasket failures if not swapped appropriately at 100k or the first 7 years…and then every 50k following that (and I assume 3.5 years).

I plan to just drain the radiator/overflow and refill…and then perhaps drain and refill it every oil change for a couple years (5k miles once a year)…then every other oil change after that.

Have you replaced your radiator and water pump? I’d go with toyota antifreeze

Pink is what you want. Red is not good.
Pink comes only premixed not concentrated from Toyota.
Highly recommend you use OEM. There can be trouble down the road with the head gasket. Search to find out...

I’d advise against trying to save a few bucks on the fluid that prevents corrosion/freezing/water pump bearings failing.

Its fine as long as it does not contain 2eha. There other brands like pentafrost and zerex that work also.

The only thing id say is, just price out toyota coolant first, sometimes its only a few dollars more, especially with some online toyota dealers

Just go to any Toyota dealership and pick up some of the OEM stuff.

I’ve read that mixing dissimilar coolants is a no go.

Anyone have a way to identify what’s already in there?

Nvm, I popped the top off the expansion tank and there is clearly bright neon pink residue.

Def not red. Looks like I can do partial swaps of oem pink coolant.

Best price I’ve seen it online is like $19 a gallon, not bad (havent purchased yet, don’t know if there are excessive shipping costs).

I’ve used Asian pink from Advance Auto when my valley plate and then my water pump were leaking. I figured the right type of generic coolant was better than driving low on coolant 15 miles to the dealer.

I suspect so long as it’s the right pink formulation if you are doing a radiator drain/fill every 50k or so it will be fine. A full 4.3 gallon drain and fill would be better but is a lot more work
