Still going through my "new" 2006 LC100 and making a list of things I need to repair, replace, or service.

One of the things I've identified is that the parking brake handle will not budge a millimeter - truly seems jammed at the handle. The button depresses normally but I can't pull it up at all. I have checked the parking brake cables at the rear axle and they seem to move freely with tension, so I don't think I likely have a stuck cable (at least not that far back). There isn't any rust or appreciable corrosion on the vehicle at all.

I'm already planning to take apart some of the center console to install a BT-45 TOY and a RAM mount that I've got ordered from Benjamin CC, so plan on delving into the parking brake issue at the same time. Haven't seemed to find any threads regarding a jammed handle when searching the forum. Anybody encounter this or have any thoughts?

Let us know what doohickey fell into that assembly and is preventing movement. Lego? Toy car? Loose change? Solidified bogey?

I replaced the full cable assembly in a 2000 earlier this year because it wouldn't budge. P/N for that year is 46410-60711, should be same for 2006. It's an $80 part for the whole thing. But, before dropping the cash, I first pulled the assembly to confirm the cable was stuck in the cable housing. It was, so I hung it up vertically on a fence post and attached a funnel contraption at the top to allow transmission fluid to wick in and loosen things up. It's an old trick that's worked for motorcycle cables, but it didn't for the LC brake cable. If you confirm the cable is stuck, I recommend just buying a new one since it's pretty cheap. If you're able to free it, it will likely never be as smooth as new and likely will bind again some years down the road. The new cable was smooth as butter. Could have put the new one in faster than f-ing with tranny fluid (not to mention the mess) and waiting for a week with zero success.

Exactly my experience as well. Definitely want to do this with the center console out. That's the most time consuming part of the job.

Once you receive the new part, you should be able to visually analyze the steps needed for changing it out.
One mounting bolt is kind squeezed up between the gas tank and body, but everything else about the job is very easy.

By "this weekend", i meant an entire year! Ridiculous - just now getting to this issue. What a pain in the $%!! this has been. Finally succeeded in removing center console without breaking anything (I think) and identifying the handle is not the issue - definitely the cable. I have ordered a new one (46410-60711), but have been trying to get the old one out in the meantime. I'm stumped as to how to disconnect the old cable from the passenger side where it splits.

Essentially it appears as though the cable goes through the part marked with the red arrow and I suspect may be secured by the clip (yellow arrow), but I can't get the clip to budge.

@LCthora you make any progress? I have a 470 with the same symptom, handle won't budge but rear cables are free. I have heard in order to get the cable out you had to drop the tank, was that your experience?
Don't need to drop the tank. I didn't. However there is a cable clamp on the top of the tank and its nut has to be removed/reinstalled blind. Wasn't a big deal as I recall.

Watching this thread for tips as my LX470 has the same symptoms.

I was able to replace mine, though many 4 letter words were uttered during the process. I thought, incorrectly, that I'd finally freed the cable from both inside and underneath the truck only to discover a hidden cable clamp under the corner of the fuel tank that wasn't visible. I did not resort to dropping the tank but found that loosening the bolts holding it up lowered the tank a crucial 5mm's or so to let me get a wrench or socket on the bolt for the cable clamp. It was a pain and not easy access regardless.

It was also a real pain for me to get the center console out of the truck. Because the parking brake handle wouldn't move upwards, it was difficult to get the plastic console housing maneuvered in a way that I could clear the handle and lift the console off, especially with the front seats in. In my case, I took the center console apart BEFORE undoing the cable underneath the truck. In retrospect, I might recommend that you first cut the cable from underneath close to where it goes through the floor into the center console - doing so might free the handle and make the center console removal MUCH easier.

My cable, as others have found and suspect yours to be the same, was seized in the sleeve. The new one works great, installation was easy. Goodluck!

I am dealing with this same issue. I disconnected the cable in back, wouldn't budge. Just ordered an OEM cable, will try and swap this next week.

Just installed a new cable and adjusted everything per the manual, now I have perfectly working parking brakes. Cable wasn't bad to install, must drop the front of the gas tank a half inch.
