On my 2013 LC, when I press the parking assist button I get “Check Sonar” error message.

I checked OBD-II codes and it shows C1AED code. Any suggestions on what to check?

TIA

I had the same issue on my 2013 LX. I assume they use the same system. One of more of the sensors went bad.

I bought the truck with the error from CarMax as they fixed it under their warranty once I got it. My repair was around 4K (that CarMax paid) because they replaced all the sensors and the Parking Sensor ECU.

My guess is that was padded since CarMax was footing the bill. According to the service manager here once the sensors go bad it affects the voltage input to the ECU after a while. I don't know about electrical systems to know if this is total BS or there is a bit of truth in that.

Check the plugs fitted to the sensors, especially the second one from the RHS.

Be VERY gentle with the sensors, they are pretty darned fragile. The wires in the harness are ridiculously thin. I would try to give everything a good hose off to rinse out any sand or other crud, before getting up in there. The connectors are not friendly about being disconnected, it's difficult to get them off without breaking the little hook finger that keeps it connected.

What you might consider doing is disconnecting the harness where it crosses over the rear crossmember, on the driver's side. Easy to reach if you drop the spare. Then, remove the entire rear bumper cover.

Good luck.

I hope it’s much simpler 😬

Any chance I can get a service page for the removing the rear bumper?

RHS or the LHS? Picture indicates left two sensors
The circuit goes into the second one from the RHS and then out to the far one on the right and the two LHS sensors.. if there is a bad connection those two will show fault. Been there.

Try visually checking the connections and maybe fiddling with it without removing the bumper. As soon as a connection makes/breaks you will get an immediate response on your dash.

Ya, the route that the wires takes is kinda absurd.

Thank you, will do that

Can't seem to upload the full resolution pic. Let me know how I can send you the original file.

The very first thing I figured out on my 2008 was how to turn the parking sensors OFF. They’ve stayed off ever since. 🤷🏻‍♂️ They were driving me crezeh…
