Check sonar/park assist sensor

2014 beeps and shows the message to check sonar system when I press the park assist button. Shows to check the rear? Is it as simple as the sensors going bad or is there anything else I need to check? Thanks in advance.

all 3 going bad at once is odd, but not impossible IMO. Is your rear bumper filthy? Did your anything affect your sensor wiring? I don't have an idea how to troubleshoot that last question though.

There is a single cable that daisy chains them together under the bumper skin. I’d check that too.

Yes and it is extremely fragile. Be careful.

I have had that message a few times, if I drove through heavy rain or a snow storm. I just disable with the dash button, then in a few days it's fine.

Thanks for the reply. I have tried disabling the dash button and that didn’t work. I’m going to try and clean the sensors? My next step is to be very careful checking the cable that daisies them together. Is this cable located in the center? Thank you.

It's been 6 years since I had my cable and sensors out, so my memory isn't that great. But I think the connector is on the driver's side where it goes from a larger harness, to this harness that runs between the plastic cover and the rear crossmember. I had to extend my harness after I installed my RLC rear bumper, the wires are very thin (22ga I think) and really a PITA to work with. I suppose you could just replace the entire harness if it looks like it's been compromised.

Thank you! This is my first 200 series. I currently have two 40’s, two 62’s, one FJZ 80, hundy, and this 2014 was added about year and a half ago and I just got the messages about a month ago. I just turned it off, however, would like to get it repaired if there’s something I can do. Thanks for your help!
